Nice ? My English teacher had a thing about the word nice, and its nuances. A review of Les Aiglons should be split into a number of area some excellent, some not so. In no particular orders;
Nice view but, we paid Inghams extra specifically for a "Mont Blanc" view, & presumably the hotel were paid accordingly. The hotel is L shaped, with the outside of the L to the road, we were on the inside of the L facing down the valley and although facing in the direction of Mont Blanc, I believe the mountain itself is set back from the valley and the hotel is thus to close to that edge of the valley to actually see MB, at least from the wing that we were on. Any chance of doing so was obscured by trees. The other wing consisting mainly of suites & family accommodation. This of course is a gripe I should have taken up with Inghams at the time, but why spoil an otherwise nice holiday by getting into a wrangle over views. Don't think we saw MB from anywhere anyway as it was always covered in cloud even on an otherwise clear day.
Nice room, but I read the hotel had been recently renovated. Always an issue as to how long recently can last. Judging from the grey tiles in the bathroom it was fairly recently, grey being the new beige. But the tiles were only round the bath, the rest of the room & separate only being painted, as was the bedroom, so apart from new bathroom fitting does a lick of paint really amount to renovation ? As the the standard of the workmanship, well, I've seen better in a Greek hotel (that is judgmental of Greek workmanship, yes). In the toilet specifically the skirting board had large gaps in the corners due to bad mitres and seemed to be covered in tile cement that had been painted over. Room quality, think Premier Inn level, which is fine if you know what you're paying for, but this hotel has stars and pretensions. This is or was a member of the Best Western chain, I don't know what this signifies by way of quality but it makes me think basic.
Public rooms, nice, I think we found the lounge, hard to say. There's a room & bar certainly. This has a number of sofas, chairs & coffee tables. These face in one direction as the room is used for presentations, and although serviceable is in no way cozy.
Why 4 stars then. Well after the above, believe it or not we really enjoyed our stay. The staff are all very friendly & helpful. We were a bit apprehensive at our first time in France, and very wary of the famous Gallic charm. No problem at all either in the hotel or Chamonix as a whole. They spoke English, I demonstrated my 50 year old school boy French ( O level by the skin of my teeth).
Best of all is the restaurant. We stayed half board, and if your not taking dinner there they you might just as well stay at the local Premier Inn. Half board, you get a choice of 3 coarses, starter, main & sweet plus coffee. Additionally you can pay extra for a selection from the restaurant menu, but most items didn't have an extra charge anyway. Food was excellent & the staff great. A very well run establishment, complements to the young lady in charge, who coped with the parties that the hotel takes with efficient professionalism.

Room Tip: Rooms n02, n04, n06, n08, n10 face Mont Blanc but you probably need to be on the third floor, rooms n24, n26, n28, n30, n32, n34, n36, n38, n40, n42, n44 are sold as such but the view is obscured. Those toward n44 no chance. See photos & floor plan

The hotel is situated close to the center of Chamonix, at walking distance from just about every interesting place to visit. From our comfortable room we had a lovely view on the mountains and on the pool.

My husband and I stayed here with our young son on our way to Italy. The hotel is in a fantastic location in Chamonix and is close to the summer attractions like the cable cars. Our room had fantastic views of the mountains & my son really enjoyed the pool. However we arrived at 3 pm and we were told our room wasn't ready. We had driven for a long time and we really wanted to unpack & get changed. We also had to call room service to ask that the 3rd bed in our room be made up for our son. The car park was also expensive, as was the breakfast. The decor in the lobby and bar was great and the staff on reception very pleasant & helpful. I would definitely stay in this hotel again, but I just wished we could have been in our room earlier to enjoy it more.

We really enjoyed this hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer. The service was top shelf. There was a minor misunderstanding but David was able to solve the problem like a pro. Its a beautiful spot. Incredible view or Mont Blanc. The breakfast buffet was worth every Euro.
