Overall, we fell in love with the place from the first time we stayed here two years ago. From the first moment you enter till the last minute you leave, everything is perfect. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, to match the authentique style of the region, you get a nice treat of candies in the room every day, the view is great, and the facilities are user-friendly. We often visited the pool and the outdoor jacuzzi area following a long day on the slopes, which is in the very near proximity of the hotel. That is very convenient, if you don't want to walk a long way or use a bus, that is though available at a close distance to take you to the neighbouring sloes of Les Houches or Le Tour, as well as Chamonix. The staff are welcoming and helpful - they would call a restaurant to make a booking for you, or a taxi if you need it, or help in a situation where you have to go through an emergency purchase of winter tyres and not know what to do with them. Our special thanks goes to the manager. One little disadvantage of the hotel is not having hot meals on the breakfast menu, but that's survivable, given that the ski slopes 200 m away have three restaurants available, and you can always have a bite there, if you want to. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Room Tip: choose a MontBlanc suite starting from the second floor - you will get great views

My family stayed here for the first week of April, with two teenage children. The highlight was the pool and hot tub on the deck. The breakfast has a good selection, better than average for France. It is a 2 minute walk to the Grands Montets lift and an easy 5 minutes walk into town that has some good restaurants. Les Tours ski area is better for intermediates and 10 mins on the free bus. Our room was nicely furnished and you can control the heat yourself. The bathroom was a bit dated, very retro, but we liked the L'Occitane soap and shampoo which made up for it. I understand some room's bathrooms have been updated.
The management were very helpful. We had to leave at 6.00pm on the last day and they let us keep the room until then and gave us fresh towels too. A good end to a great stay.

I was just emailing a friend to say what a good hotel this was - friendly receptionist , spacious suite, beautiful view, excellent location - when my son and his family popped over from their apartment to say hello.

The manager was in reception. He refused to allow them to come up to our suite. He refused to let my wife accompany them up to our suite. He refused to allow us to give them a drink in the bar. He was offensive to my son and aggressive towards my wife.

What a pity!

This is not the first time the manager's unpleasant attitude has been mentioned in a Tripadvisor review.

Les Grands Montets is located a short walk from the main lift to the pistes of the same name. It is a well equipped hotel with a handy spa including massage therapies, sauna, steam room, pool and hot tub (outside - perfect for a plunge in the snow!) The staff are very helpful and accommodating and all could speak excellent English.
My only criticism of the hotel would be that they do not serve food other than breakfast. It would have been noce to have a meal there in the evening due to the distance of the hotel from the main resort town of Chamonix. There are a few restaurants within walking distance (15 minutes) but if you wanted to enjoy any of the apres ski in town you would need to have a hire car or book a taxi.
We hired a car for the 4 days we were there which meant we could sample some of the other slopes nearby. I would recommend this option to anyone considering Chamonix as a ski destination as it made our trip so much easier. There are busses available that will take you to the other resorts but I witnessed some fairly substantial queues while out there.
All in all, a noce hotel in a good location for a few days skiing. I would suggest this may also be a good location for a long summer weekend and will be considering a trip out there this summer to make the most of the surrounding area.

This hotel is 2 minutes walk from the first lift at Grands Montets slopes where you find the steepest slopes and the best of piste in Chamonix. It is a 10 minute drive from Chamonix town centre so this place is on the quite side. You can go up to abt 3600m here and ski all the way down to the hotel at 1100m. Do that in one run, and your legs really feel it! The hotel is a lodge style hotel with decent rooms and also veranda for the afternoon sun which is nice! Also a good jacuzzi and small gym to chill in after days of skiing.

On a whole a lovely place. Fantastic location being literally a 2 minute walk from the grands montets ski lift.
The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable.
The pool was great and we loved nothing more than to hang out in the jacuzzi at the end of a long day ski-ing.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Only criticism is the lack of resteraunt in the hotel. It would have been nice to at least get a snack in the afternoon.
Overall lovely stay.

The location is great in terms of closeness to the Grands Montets lift, however this is not a 4 star hotel. The staff were on the whole friendly and helpful and it has a nice authentic Alpine feel but the hotel is quite basic and little ambience in the public areas. The bedrooms were clean but no English channels on the TV and only a small bath. The spa is also over rated - the pool is cold, the jacuzzi barely bubbles and the steam room also doesn't work properly. Had you wanted to chill out in the evenings in the hotel there was nothing to do and they only provide breakfast so you cant even get a snack. We would've ignored these imperfections had we not had a shock experience on our second to last day when the chamber maid knocked on our door and asked us to vacate the room. It was only by chance we had finished skiing early that day and we were in the room - It would've been nice to have some notice and very inconvenient to have to pack all our stuff up without any prior warning. Finally, we were disappointed that after check out we had a few hours to wait for our taxi to the airport. We asked to use the spa however there is strict policy that once you check out you can to use the facilities. As our ski passes had runout we sat around like lemons for hours!
