Well located within walking distance of the Brevent lifts, this modern clean, well managed hotel is a perfect base. Four of us (old friends) met up having travelled from North of England, Zurich and London and we hired a car from Geneva to get us to Cham and travel to the different Ski areas whilst we were there. The hotel car park is ideal and its location makes it easy to get in and out of Chamonix town by road. Also within very easy walking distance of the restaurants, bars etc for the evening. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and on the last day we were able to leave our luggage in the baggage room, ski all morning then go to the sauna room for a shower and change ready for our drive home! Breakfast was ideal - served from 7am - cereal, fruit, yoghurt, selection of breads and pastries, eggs, ham cheese jam etc. The coffee is great too.

Room Tip: Some rooms have baths - we opted for a superior room which had a bath (great for aching limbs!) whic...

We stayed in January 2013, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Kids decided not to share a room, so 1 slept on the sofa bed in the loungeroom. All beds very comfortable, kitchen very well appointed and clean. We were probably the first to stay in the room, so the fact that the stove was turned off was only understandable, and the staff fixed the problem instantly. The boot warmers were a highlight, and the ski lockers downstairs very handy. The separate toilet made up for sharing a single bathroom with 2 needy teenagers, and the living area was easily big enough to cope with four big people and our stuff. Storage in the living room, kitchen and wardrobes was excellent. The verandah was an added bonus not really utilised in winter, but I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment in winter or summer. Entertainment included TV, DVD, broadband if you wanted to stay in (why - you're in Chamonix!!). Staff very helpful and knowledgable - lift tickets and assistance with rentals available on site. All round fantastic.

Room Tip: Choose the 6 bed (2 bedrooms and the sofabed in the loungeroom) for families of 4 or more. The "...

We stayed in this hotel for two nights in June and would definitely recommend. The room was spacious, clean and cosy with a balcony and superb view. We ate out on the first night but decided to try the hotel restaurant on the second night and were glad we did. The food was delicious and the popularity of this place was testament to how good the food was. Overall this hotel was superb value and is definitely nicer than some more expensive hotels I have visited.

Hotel de l'Arve is a jewel. Stayed in this hotel with Rick Steves tour group. Room was large for European standards and the views from the hotel were to die for. The hotel is near some excellent resraurants. Hotel staff was friendly, and the continental breakfast was good and plentiful. The river walk path is right outside the door of the back entrance. I highly recommend Hotel de l'Arve. You will not be disappointed.

Perfectly decent little two star hotel. Comfortable beds, good views of the mountain, great location. Only complaint was with the wireless, which we could never get to work correctly. Can't go wrong, especially if you're on a budget.

We usually stay in small, three-star hotels in Europe, but sometimes opt for a premium priced room in a two-star establishment. This was one of those times, and we weren't disappointed. Our superior room was unusually large and featured a balcony, a skylight, and an unforgettable view of Mount Blanc and other nearby peaks. The room was meticulously clean, the bathroom featured a large tub, and the reasonably priced breakfast (8 Euros per person) was quite good. The hotel is on a small cul-de-sac just off the main road, backs onto the river, and is extremely quiet. Going to Chamonix? Then give this one a try.

Room Tip: Be sure to request an upper floor room when you book.
