“Had a group of 25 stay...and we loved every minute there!”
Reviewed March 19, 2012

I had a large group of 25 people stay at the Hotel de L`Arve and we all had a great time there. The hotel staff were very friendly, and it was always nice to come back from a day of skiing to welcomed back with a smile. The breakfast buffet in the morning was nice, and got us all going in the morning. The dinners there were very nice, but I am glad I was able to mix up the days so my group could go out to dinner as well; as Chamonix has fantastic places to eat! The hotel did a great job putting together a nice little wine and cheese party for my group in a private room in the back; it was a great beginning to our stay. The rooms were nice, and they ranged from small to large. It all depends what you pay for, as anywhere you go. The location is amazing, all the buses are right up the block. Not to mention you are at the foot of main street. As for ski storage, best I have ever seen! Key code for the outside storage, and then personal lockers for all your equipment. Stay here, and you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Don't stress about getting a Mont Blanc view room, get the better room without the view.

Booked this independently for a ski trip. Booking was easy and it was the start of what turned out to be a great experience. Warm welcome great location in a quiet courtyard - parking - with river at back and 5 minutes walk to the nursery slopes to hitch a lift on the drag to the gondola. It's not a luxury hotel but very comfortable sitting room, bar, great restaurant mentioned in the Michelin guide. Breakfast was plentiful. The room was fine, balcony with enougn room for table and chairs; great views; bathroom was good; excellent shower over bath and TV with English channels. Receptionists were very friendly thoughout and lots of advice. Spoke perfect English (I know I should learn French) and very central just 2 minutes to the top of the pedestrianised area . Overall excellent value for money and for any sort of trip would be a great choice for anyone. Didn't travel with the kids but there were children staying there.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back overlook the river

We stayed at Hotel de l'Arve for 7 nights: it was an excellent home base for a wonderful ski trip! The rooms are comfortably sized and the beds were very good. The location is fantastic, only one block from the central walking street and a stroll up the driveway to all the free buses that take you around Chamonix and the valley. In fact, you're only 2 blocks walk from the Savoy poma/tow that takes you directly to the Brevent/Flegere gondola!
The staff were very friendly and accomodating. With a very reasonable price and quiet rooms, Hotel de l'Arve is an excellent choice that won't let you down!

Room Tip: Most rooms have a balcony facing the river; ours didn't and may have therefore been quieter. The...

We just back from our first winter holidays in Chamonix. We stayed in HOTEL DE L ARVE for 7 nights. Really nice place to stay and well recommended by us. Good value if you compare to the other places in Chamonix. Nice and fresh buffet breakfast, hotel very warm, staff very helpfull, rooms are clean and bright. We recomend to take Mount Blanc View Room its really worth it. All together REALLY GOOD for the money what we payed.

Room Tip: Mount Blanc View Room

We had a nice stay at the Hotel De L'Arve for 4 nights in February. This hotel is perfectly located for skiing and for exploring Chamonix. The ski bus stops just around the corner - key to have a short walk when you're all suited up in ski gear! And the buses give you easy access to all the main ski areas, especially the Brevant-Flegere area, which is only 2 stops away. There is a ski rental shop nearby (across the street from the bus stop) which was easy and convenient. The hotel has a storage room with lockers for skis and gear. We also enjoyed the simple but hearty breakfasts before heading out for the slopes (think: breads, cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs), as well as the sauna for relaxing afterwards! The lounge/bar with fireplace in the lobby is also nice - the wifi works well there but is spotty in the rest of the building. Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Walls were a bit thin, so could be a bit noisy at times. Overall, recommended for a budget-friendly but comfortable stay in beautiful Chamonix!

Room Tip: Choose a room on the river-side, with a view of Mont Blanc

I recently stayed for a few days in this charming hotel, chosen because of its proximity to my daughter's appartment in Chamonix. The position in the centre of town and close to the Brevant lift system - but away from the road - is ideal; the hotel was spotlessly clean and the modest website does not do justice to the civility and warmth of the staff. I will definitely return.

Booked into Hotel De L'Arve, recommended by friends, good central location, a must in Chamonix. Breakfast a bit ordinary, dinner in restaurant good, but menu did not change in 10 days, slightly more imaginative than you usual Savoyade fare which can be very heavy and the same in every restaurant in town. Note Chamonix is not a beginners resort, mostly black runs back to the town and then you need to catch a bus.
All skiing areas spread out along a very long valley, excellent high skiing and off piste when the weather is good, but the valley fills up with fog and low cloud whilst other nearby resorts, such as Megeve, do not suffer from this problem.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of Mont Blanc.
