Mercure Chamonix Les Bossons
Ranked #25 of 73 Hotels in Chamonix

A downgraded Novotel hotel which is now only Mercure rated at Accor hotel group. Was met by a facile receptionist who went through her quota of trained motions without being genuinely engaging nor helpful. First room given was not accepted as there was a uncleared item in the WC. All areas looked jaded and well worn. Towels are long past their pristine white and faded into shades of light beige.
Hotel was most likely designed as ski-hotel and in summer, hordes of family swarm around the small swimming pool and sauna. Breakfast was also extremely busy and restaurant is understaffed for the number of guest.
Would not recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for room with good mountain view of Mont Blanc.

The hotel is really nice, the facilities are very nice and modern. The rooms are big and well decorated and there is a lot of room for clothes and bags. Inside the room there is a water heater that allows you to make coffee, tea, etc.
The staff is really kind, nice and helpful. The interior pool and the jacuzzi are something to dream for, you can have a nice swim while you look at the Mont Blanc just right in front of you alongside the Aguilles du Midi, le Mont Blanc de Tacul, le Dôme de Gouter, etc. You cannot ask for anything else.
The hotel is well located just out of the main road only five minutes driving from Chamonix center. From the hotel there is only a 10-15 minutes lovely walk to the Lac des Gaillards.
Our stay there was perfect. The only thing about it that we missed in a 4 star hotel was a small refrigerator in the room.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice and have wonderful views although the ones facing the Mont Blanc are the best...

Everything fine but the location and lack of choice at dinner was a problem. We were told that the only option for dinner was a buffer at 24.95eu for two courses or 29.95 eu for three courses. No a la carte or room service on offer. As the hotel was a few miles from Chamonix we had to take the buffet on offer. Certainly not good value for money.
I'd choose a hotel in Chamonix next time.

Very clean, but the personal was a little bit racist. They speak only in french even if you explain them a hundred times to speak in english because you don't understand french.
The water in the swimming pool was very cold and full of chemicals. The smell of chemicals could be felt until the first floor.
The water pressure in the shower was very reduced.

We stayed at the mercure before starting the TMB trip.
The hotel was exactly what we wanted it to be:
Clean, indulge but not too much, feels like home, not too big, polite and service oriented team.
The crew helped us with all our questions.
We wanted to stay their after the tour, but by then it was fully booked!

Very clean rooms, friendly personal. The swimming pool is quite good. Better to have a car to go to Chamonix. For this price this hotel is one of the best choice compare with old hotels in chamonix. We spent one night and completely satisfied

Stopped here in June 2013 as part of French Alpes tour. Stayed four nights. The hotel is situated outside of town so transport is needed, although there is a local bus service that now calls at the hotel. The surrounding area has been smartened up over the 25 years or more that we have stayed here ( used to be a Novotel that burnt down many years ago ) and you can walk out from the back of the hotel & get into the mountains in less than 10 mins. Usual Mercure service which overall is good, but breakfast service could be smartened up ( it was all rather lacklustre and slapdash ) and the free Wi-Fi was a nightmare for us all over the hotel. A short journey up the road at IBIS Sallanches, their free Wi-Fi was easy to access and worked first time with a simple log-on system. Mercure - please take note......

Room Tip: Mountain or side view rooms are best - the others look onto the motorway which runs past the hotel.
