I have stayed in the Chamonix valley on numerous occasions over several decades and especially in recent years. This was my first stay at Les Lanchers and it will be my number 1 preference next time I return to Chamonix. The location at Les Praz is quiet and convenient with free parking and free travel on the Chamonix buses that stop right outside the hotel. The immediate proximity of the Flegere /Index cable cars gets you swiftly up to the high mountain terrain of the Aiguilles Rouges. In common with other rooms on the front of the hotel, my room had an amazing prospect over to the Aiguille Verte and the Dru. It was on the top (4th floor) and the hotel has a lift. The room was clean and comfortable and had free high-speed WiFi. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the food served for breakfast and in the restaurant was varied and excellent. There was plentiful printed information available about local services and outdoor and cultural activities. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming - Jon and Patrick helped us out a lot throughout our stay. We were very happy with our room which was modern and clean and had a great terrace with mountain views. The food was very good and great value (especially when staying half-board as we were).
The location is fantastic. The village of Les Praz has a quiet, traditional feel and had everything we needed for our stay. There are 4 bus stops and a train station all within a 5 minute walk - providing convenient access to all parts of the Chamonix Valley. There is also a nice village shop that sold baguettes and fruit which we took on our hikes. The Flegere gondola is a 5 minute walk away. We very much hope to stay here again some day.

Room Tip: Room 14 - modern, clean 'superior room' with a great little terrace.

The hotel is very easy to find when coming from Switzerland. It is also just a 5 min. walk from Le Flegere cable car and therefore a great base for hiking tours in this area.

Chamonix itself is a short 5 min drive from the hotel. Parking at the hotel is free whilst parking in Chamonix is charged by the hour therefore it is a great deal to just simply drive into town in the evening and have free parking in the hotel.

The rooms are basic but have everything you need. we had the great advantage that we were given a room with a balcony which was fantastic. We had views of Petit Dru and Mont Blanc from both the room as well as the balcony.

Breakfast is a small buffet but with everything you need - even freshly squeezed orange juice - to get ready for hiking. The croissants are amazing!!

Dinner & cocktail prices are very reasonable for Chamonix and we usually ended our evening having a drink in the hotel instead of town as it was cheaper and very nice.

The biggest asset is the staff which is very helpful and professional. Almost all speak English (as not original French) and are always happy to help. When we were late one day for breakfast they not only brought everything back out but offered us more fresh orange juice without us having to ask.

All in all, if I go back to Chamonix this is the place I will stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on 2nd floor with balcony. Simple bathroom but amazing balcony!!

Recently we visited Chamonix, France and stayed at Les Lanchers based the reviews I had read. I was so pleased to see all the good reviews were true. Our room was incredible with a view of the Alps plus a small balcony. We did not eat breakfast, which is an additional charge, but what we saw looked lovely. The owners, Jon and Celine, both spoke English well, and both were extremely helpful in our planning our day. If ever I return to the area I would most assuredly stay with them again.

Room Tip: Just a beautiful place located just out of the main town. The owners give you a complimentary bus pa...

We stayed for a week and enjoyed it a lot. The staff are friendly, helpful and the hotel itself is very nice. The price is also reasonable for Chamonix. The location is pretty good too, a short walk into Chamonix and close to lots of great trails. For sure we'll go again, in fact it's the second time we've stayed there. Just hope the weather is better next time........

Stayed late-April

We arrived quite much later than noted due to our time at lunch but the lady was already expecting us as we were the only guests to arrive that day for Les Lanchers, Chamonix, around 1820 hour. Amazing and pleasant surprise as we were needed some rest after a long day's drive. We were shown to our room-1 - 2 bedrooms and a sharing bath-toilet unit. Bathroom unit is really small and would be challenging for a large person.

Yet, overall the hosts were very friendly and recommended a place for us to dine in on Monday evening as the hotel restaurant was closed. We tried salad plates and white asparagus also. Apparently 1 ski resort is opened until early May this year. Staffs area friendly although meals were OK rather than impressive as thought. May be it was bad timing ?? Breakfast spread was great, though. Warm croissant, breads and hams and cheeses......

Dined in Chamonix town this evening as hotel restaurant is closed on Monday, not sure though if it was a regular closed or not. Yet, it was the first time to dine outside for an evening meal, which turned out great - tried kebab plates. Car navy was a great help as we usually worried about finding our back in the dark and for convenience's sake in preferring to dine at lodging place.

Had kebab at a local eatery, a lane parallel to the one where Aigulle du Midi station is located. Enjoyed a walk around town after that. Fresh to walk for Tue first time. :-)

WiFi connection at hotel was superb. Got to connect to Skype also and chatted a bit with mom n nephew in Penang, Malaysia. Showed them Mt Blanc n the little town, live on Skype also.

Staffs are friendly and very helpful. Special key number will be advised should you need to return to room in late hours. Has spacious overnight area for skis and other outdoor gadgets on ground floor, if needed.

Room Tip: Room-1 has great view of mountains.
