“Great hotel, great owners”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

Recently we visited Chamonix, France and stayed at Les Lanchers based the reviews I had read. I was so pleased to see all the good reviews were true. Our room was incredible with a view of the Alps plus a small balcony. We did not eat breakfast, which is an additional charge, but what we saw looked lovely. The owners, Jon and Celine, both spoke English well, and both were extremely helpful in our planning our day. If ever I return to the area I would most assuredly stay with them again.

Room Tip: Just a beautiful place located just out of the main town. The owners give you a complimentary bus pa...

We stayed for a week and enjoyed it a lot. The staff are friendly, helpful and the hotel itself is very nice. The price is also reasonable for Chamonix. The location is pretty good too, a short walk into Chamonix and close to lots of great trails. For sure we'll go again, in fact it's the second time we've stayed there. Just hope the weather is better next time........

Stayed late-April

We arrived quite much later than noted due to our time at lunch but the lady was already expecting us as we were the only guests to arrive that day for Les Lanchers, Chamonix, around 1820 hour. Amazing and pleasant surprise as we were needed some rest after a long day's drive. We were shown to our room-1 - 2 bedrooms and a sharing bath-toilet unit. Bathroom unit is really small and would be challenging for a large person.

Yet, overall the hosts were very friendly and recommended a place for us to dine in on Monday evening as the hotel restaurant was closed. We tried salad plates and white asparagus also. Apparently 1 ski resort is opened until early May this year. Staffs area friendly although meals were OK rather than impressive as thought. May be it was bad timing ?? Breakfast spread was great, though. Warm croissant, breads and hams and cheeses......

Dined in Chamonix town this evening as hotel restaurant is closed on Monday, not sure though if it was a regular closed or not. Yet, it was the first time to dine outside for an evening meal, which turned out great - tried kebab plates. Car navy was a great help as we usually worried about finding our back in the dark and for convenience's sake in preferring to dine at lodging place.

Had kebab at a local eatery, a lane parallel to the one where Aigulle du Midi station is located. Enjoyed a walk around town after that. Fresh to walk for Tue first time. :-)

WiFi connection at hotel was superb. Got to connect to Skype also and chatted a bit with mom n nephew in Penang, Malaysia. Showed them Mt Blanc n the little town, live on Skype also.

Staffs are friendly and very helpful. Special key number will be advised should you need to return to room in late hours. Has spacious overnight area for skis and other outdoor gadgets on ground floor, if needed.

Room Tip: Room-1 has great view of mountains.

Although we stayed only a night during low season, we immediately realized what a great little hotel this is. A warm welcome, a reasonable price, a modern and clean room, a delicious dinner (AND breakfast!) plus a very good night's sleep since it was so quiet - what more could you ask for?! We're definitely planning to go back for a hiking holiday in summer or fall. It was our first visit to Chamonix ever, but we liked what we saw and would love to see more...

Room Tip: We chose a superior room which was perfect with a small balcony to sit outside in the morning sun.

This is a lovely family-run hotel in a quiet village just outside Chamonix on the Argentiere side. The Flegere lift is within a very short walk of the hotel.

The proprietors and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout. Top marks for comfort, cleanliness and value for money.

Very good breakfast and an outstanding evening meal in the restaurant (or bar if you prefer). Note that the restaurant has a night off on Mondays; there are two options within walking distance. I happily ate in on the other six nights of my stay.

I have complete confidence in pointing friends and colleagues in the direction of this hotel and am looking forward to a return visit myself.

We stayed at the end of the season and got a great deal. The hotel owner was extremely helpful and made our stay very pleasant. The food in the restauarnt was fantastic and great value and there is a small bar with a good atmosphere. The hotel is a 15 minute walk outside Chamonix town centre but a straight road to walk back. There is plenty of parking and two ski hire shops opposite. One ski lift is just behind the hotel. The main resort of Grand Montet is a 5 minute drive. In high season there are buses into chamonix centre and to the ski areas which run regularly. A great place to stay I highly recommend it

My wife and I along with our two children (10 and 13) stayed in one of the family suites for two nights. It was reasonably-priced (for Chamonix), clean, and comfortable. The kids' room had a great view of the Mt. Blanc range. The husband and wife proprietors were both very friendly and helpful; she is French and he is English (which may account for the soccer games shown in the bar during the evenings). We also had a good and reasonably-priced meal in the hotel restaurant, though, if you want to splurge (about 3x more) on dinner, I'd recommend La Remise, up the road a few kilometers toward Argentiere. Hotel Les Lanchers is in Les Praz, about 3 kilometers up the road from Chamonix toward Argentieres. There is a lovely walking path along the river between Les Praz and the center of Chamonix, or you can drive or take the bus and be in the tourism heart of Chamonix in a few minutes. The atmosphere in Les Praz is more pleasant and relaxing. The drive to the Grand Motets base takes about 10 minutes, or you can walk about 200 meters from the hotel to the La Flegere cable car.
