Description: Installed on small chairs like the pasture and under the old wood paneling of the reconstructed farmhouse is a cuisine to be enjoyed on checkered tablecloths our country restaurant. Back in time to rediscover the old-those dishes simmered by our grandmothers, who hummed hours on the wood stove - is what we offer to our guests. Summer on the terrace facing Mont Blanc, the winter near the terminal, high Savoyard fireplace, is enchaineront popular dishes of popular cuisine: calf's head invigorates sauce, grilled pigs feet, the bowl Chicken liver, the roast lamb on the spit, pike quenelles in crayfish sauce, Piedmontese risotto or fried whitefish fillet. Of course, the chef Stephane Gassot did not forget to revisit some cheese specialties and bring up to date the classic old desserts. Tasty, tasty, real Proust's madeleine that will make you relive with emotion the exquisite flavors of the cuisine of yesteryear Alps. Perpetual ode to our ancestors who cooks ends with this "vre" garni thousand pies and gourmet coffee that can be enjoyed chocolates and cookies, all prepared in the kitchens of our establishment. In the dining room, our director Serge Ratton will offer you the most suitable wine to your desires and your dishes with a selection of fine wines from France, including wines from regional varieties of the best winemakers.

We chose a good value set meal - the main course of the day was braised beef cheek with an individual pot of mash. Both it and the starters were delicious. The dessert buffet was simply astounding and apparently we should have revisited it (but we'd eaten so well this wasn't possible). The service was very good without being intrusive. A memorable meal on our final night.

If you stick to the set menu it's amazing value. 5 minutes walk from the centre of Chamonix where you can pay the same or more for very average food. Here you can eat very good food in lovely surroundings with impeccable service. The black pudding starter sticks in memory - much subtler than the traditional English version. Save space for desserts too as its a buffet of lovely tarts. We didn't try the appetisers but they looked lovely too.

The rack of lamb for two was a generous service and seasoned and cooked perfectly, served with roasted tomatoes. The appetizer salad bar had great variety allowing us to sample several different dishes.

Compared too other restaurants in town we dont understand the reputation of this restaurant and the bip gourmand from Michelin!. The food was very ordinary ( rack of lamb) and so was the service from the staff. By looking at Tripadvisor we found a lot of places with better food and service and not so expensive.

A relatively small menu but with a very nice 'plat du jour' on weekdays. Everything on the menu is great, we have eaten here many times & it never disappoints. One highlight is the dessert buffet - be sure to save some appetite for that. Good idea to reserve a table as it is a popular place.
