“Nice spot for an afternoon beer and set menu in the evening”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Stopped here for a beer in the afternoon after having just spent 3 days getting here from Bolivia! It was a very welcome beer and a great place to watch the world go buy. Took a while to get a beer, but we were acknowledged as soon as we sat down. The owner was serving on his own at the time, so understandable and we were not rushing off anytime soon! Went back in the evening and had the set menue - huge salad to start with and loads of bread, followed by steak and chips and a cracking chocolate pudding to finish. Steak was cooked perfectly and overall a good experience. More staff in the evening (his wife!) but no long waits and the timing between courses was just right. Good value for money.

“Amazing Fondue; typical french service”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

This was a venue for a morning after the night before. We were a party of three being joined by another three people after half an hour.

Our waitress was initially concerned that we had a big table for what could only have been three people, but since the folks we were waiting for were military types, they duly arrived on the button, and all was well.

Three of us went for the mushroom fondue for three people (minimum of two), and it was superb. One caution, though - there is a lot of food in a fondue, so be careful how much you order - fondue for two to share between three would still have been too much. Our waitress had no problem in arranging another plate for another arrival to do their worst - we still did not finish it though!

I willl definitely be back to Chamonix, and I will definitely visit again!

“Very nice raclette”
Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

We shared the raclette here. It was served with various meats and a salad. Pricy for what it was but tasty nonetheless. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar/ restaurant was busy with a mixture of locals and tourists.

Local dishes are served here so it's worth a try.

Portions were of a good size and the food seemed to be fresh.

“Bistrot des Sports, Chamonix”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

EUR €21 for starter, main and dessert, how can you go wrong?

The salad was tasty and wholesome, the steak frites was cooked exactly how I like it (although the meat was a bit tough) and the dessert was just as you would expect in a Bistro.

Add in friendly efficient service and a great little Italian wine for an unbelievably cheap €5 per jug and this was a thoroughly enjoyable cheap and cheerful quick meal.

“Had a breakfast there on the day of arrival”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

It was 8.30am. We asked for coffees and croissants. there were 6 of us. They had 3 croissants leftand they just told us pretty rudely to share them. We ended up looking by ourselves for a bakery to buy some.
No effort whatsoever to tell us where we could buy them since it seems they could not go and get more.
