We had a nice meal at Munchie. Good food and good service. Not spectacular but a good solid place. Atmosphere was ok but nothing to write home about.

Food was great, Asian Scandinavian mix (sounds odd but it isn't). We arrived early and service was great and attentive, but as the restaurant got busier, it was a little slower. It was, however, always friendly. Also, the fact it was the busiest restaurant in the street by a mountain mile shows a lot. Definitely recommended. The pulled pork was lovely.

We visited Chamonix this August and were looking for a nice restaurant to splurge. We chose Munchie based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. And we were not disapointed. The food is amazing, even my little 5 year old girl loved the asian-european fusion inspired menu, and don't get me started with the Virgin Mojito.
The only setback was the "welcome". We arrived at 6:30 as it was pouring rain outside ! We felt not welcomed at all. They asked us to come back at 7pm. We asked to have a drink at the bar, even that was refused, and not in a very nice way. We did not want to change restaurants as it was raining and we were ill equiped to wonder around and find another restaurant.
We came back at 7pm sharp and there were already guests seated at tables and having drinks.
All in all, we were very happy with the food but I feel they should have been nice and more welcoming.

We visited the restaurant on Thursday evening. We popped in to book a table specifically outside for 9.30pm (we booked the table at 9.00pm) and were told that this would be fine. When we returned there were two free tables outside (not yet cleaned and re-set from previous customers) and were offered a table inside. When we pointed out that we had asked to sit outside the waitress took about 10 minutes to sort one of the tables out. We did ask for a drink in the bar area and although we were given one reasonably quickly we were left hanging around rather uncomfortably as there was nowhere to lean/sit. There was quite a large party coming to the end of their meal and paying and it took quite a while to order and for the starters to come.

We had pulled pork in panko tempura and the steak tartare to start. Both of which were delicious. the bread which should have arrived before the starter arrived after we had finished them and with the main we ordered some more drinks which didn't arrive until we had reminded a different waitress who said that like the bread she had "forgotten" them. The main courses were also delicious and quite big portions (the food here is not cheap!). We had the Korean pork and salmon with ginger butter and summer vegetables. Both of which were well flavoured and well cooked.

Overall not a disastrous experience - good food but the waitresses (although all were pleasant and polite) seemed to be more interested in chatting with their friends who were hanging out in the restaurant than their customers! Would we go back - definitely for the food and everyone deserves a second chance don't they?!

A return visit to Chamonix & Munchie, you have to try the teriyaki duck, superb. The service, presentation of food, and opportunity to sit outside made another memorable evening, highly recommended.
