“Still a favourite but stick to pizzas”
Reviewed April 8, 2014

A yearly trip to Chamonix means a trip to the Bartavel famous for its wide choice of pizzas, salads, meats and fish. our group of five settled on pizzas and there were all good and crispy. the pizzas are large and generously filled. I tried a Savoie omelette (with potatoes an lardons). Although the portion was large, the omelette was dry inside and out as if it had been re-heated. It completely lacked of taste too.In France, an omelette should be creamy and soft inside and crispy on the outside. It was not the case. It was served with a very small salad with hardly any vinaigrette. Chunky chips had to be ordered separately and came dry and overcooked. I hope this was just a one off and I will try again next year during our visit to Chamonix. Service was good and efficient and waiters speak English. Prices are very competitive and this cafe remains one of the best value place to eat in Chamonix.

“Good value for money”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

Extensive menu with some staple local fares and an Italian flavour. The pizza was good and the pasta was also good although some of the sauces are not typical Italian. Portions are very generous so it is very good value for money: you won't leave hungry nor penniless. Service is attentive though informal. Would benefit from an update on the decor, which looks very dated. You may have to negotiate on where to sit.

“Very nice service”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

Apparently it's open non-stop, so it's a sure choice when you find yourself hungry. Average prices, food okay. I liked my soup, the pizza was a bit dull flavor-wise, but the dough was nice and thin. As already said in some of the reviews, you want to come here if you want a hassle-free quick meal in a pleasant atmosphere and very nice staff.

A good find, lots of selection on pizza and pastas. Service was good and efficient enough! Prices a reasonable, a good place to have dinner after whole day of skiing.

“Good pizza”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

Had lunch at the Bartavel. Friendly efficient service. Very good pizzas in wood oven. Very reasonable price (chamonix can be overpriced). Definitely recommend it for a quick pizza or pasta lunch/dinner.
