“Nice late summer stay”
Reviewed September 26, 2009

My husband and I stayed with Jackie and David while hiking the French Alps. They were superb hosts. I almost don't want to many people to know about them, we plan to come back and ski with them soon. They were great at helping us plan our daily trips/meals and were really just a joy to be around. The chalet is great. It is about a 15 minute walk into Chamonix down a lovely, lightheaded wooded path and 5 minutes to Le Praz. The hot tub and honesty bar was really nice for when we finished with our daily activities. Definitely have them arrange a paragliding trip with Shawn. They also did some really nice things that I thought was over the top.... I am not going to comment on it specifically b/c I don't think they should be obligated to do it for everybody.. just know they are great to stay with and you will be pleased. The only thing they could add that would make this place perfect would be to have a computer for guest use. Presently there are internet cafes available in Chamonix.
Chamonix is a great town for outdoor adventure and Vert e Blanc is a really relaxing and cozy place to stay.

Vert e Blanc was spectacular.. A cute old house with lots of charm, updated with enough modern amenities to make it super relaxing.

Hot tub on deck? Check. Amazing view of the alps right out your window? Check. Sauna on site? Check. Fantastic food? Check. Amazingly friendly, helpful hosts? Check.

The only thing I can think of that might not be everyone's cup of tea is that they have a super cute, friendly cat named Angel, who has a fantastic personality. But I imagine that if you have bad cat allergies, her great personality won't make up for red puffy eyes.

The splendid accomodations of Vert et Blanc cannot be overstated. My wife and I settled on Chamonix as the final location of our honeymoon, and despite having spent time in London, Paris, and a winery of the Rhone Valley, our visit to Chamonix was the highpoint. However, this elation could not have been possible without staying with Jackie and David at Vert et Blanc. They have put their heart and soul into this chalet and it shows in every detail. The relaxing accomodations are wonderful and omnipresent. Aside from providing transport to guests from the train station and various locales in town, Jackie and David made all arrangements for adventure activities. In just three days, my wife and I were able to ride whitewater rapids, paraglide, and glacier hike, and all we had to do was tell Jackie and David what we wanted to do. They took care of making the calls, scheduling the events, making payment easy, and getting us where we needed to be. If you are visiting Chamonix, stay at Vert et Blanc, you won't regret it!

This was out third trip to Vert et Blanc and would have been our fourth but one year we booked too late!

Jackie and David are brilliant hosts and have always made our stay a real pleasure. The chalet is stylishly, well appointed and designed with the guests in mind. The rooms are simply furnished but everything from the comfy beds to the bathrooms is done well.

We really appreciate the flexibility of staying here. One of us has usually done one of the Ultra tour du Mont Blanc races when we have stayed and it has never been a problem to use the kitchen to make sandwiches or keep unusual hours with one of us often turning up late at night or early in the morning.

Breakfasts are a buffet with plenty of bread, fruit, yogurt, jam ,cold meats and cereal. Enough to fuel up for the most energetic day in the hills. We have only had dinner once. Not only was the food good, but with new and old friends all around the table it was a great social evening too.

The chalet is a shortish walk into Chamonix where David and Jackie can always recommend a good place to eat. It is very convenient for Le Praz too.

Jackie and David always make our stay feel like we are stayng with good friends and it will be our first choice if we consider another trip to Chamonix either for the Ultra-Trail or just for a short break.

My wife and I booked in for 11nights in mid August for a holiday to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and my birthday.

Not being skiers, this was the first time we had stayed in a chalet hotel and were both very impressed with the relaxed friendly nature compared to the formal impersonal hotels we normally stay in. Jackie and David made us feel very welcome the minute we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. Location wise, it's a bit out of town but the 15 minute walk along the river side into town is lit at night and is very picturesque. 10 minutes in the other direction is the charming village of Le Praz and the Cable car station of the Flegere lift from where you can explore the South side of the valley.

Our room was kept to the highest standards and was very comfortable. The shared lounge and terrace areas both have plenty of room for relaxing after a days activity in the mountains. We didn't use the hot tub but the sauna on the ground floor was excellent.
Breakfast was great, chatting to fellow guests around the large table whilst filling up on the excellent range of fresh food on offer. It was also nice to wander down for breakfast at whatever time you like instead of being tied to strict times.

All in all this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. I think it will be pretty hard to find better.

The awesome location in the French Alps pales in comparison to the gorgeous chalet, friendly owners and overall experience. Seriously though, Chamonix has got to be one of the prettiest places on earth. Everything about Vert et Blanc is just ideal. I have already booked to hold two more retreats in this same Chalet next year and it is because of the owners Jackie and David. Our host are like old friends already and really made my Retreat a complete success. I can't think of one thing I would change as all of our needs were more than met and everything exceeded our expectations.
