“Reasonable hotel in a very good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

We chose this hotel based on T/A reviews and the fact that we wanted to stay close to the old town. In terms of location, I don't think we could have done any better. It is right on the edge of the old town and a walk of less than a minute gets you to the entrance of the old town. We asked for a room overlooking the canal- and we got it. Don't over-estimate it though. The single window in the room is less than a meter squared and the canal is bordered by several large trees. It does keep noise out though and we had no problem sleeping. My only issue would be that the carpets were quite dusty and the bathroom floor was not clean. Other than that, we really had no issue with the hotel. The reception area looks recently renovated and the front desk staff were extremely friendly. The room was large enough for our suitcases, with two cupboards and we still had room to move in (Unlike some other hotels in France). The bathroom has a bath with a shower head. If you are looking for a place to simply sleep at night while in Annecy, then this is ideal. We did not have breakfast at the hotel- there is a very nice bakery at the centre of the old town that opens as early as 6am. Annecy also has so many restaurants that open around 10am that it is nice to rather eat at a new spot each day. The hotel has parking right next door in a parking garage, of which the cost is covered by the hotel between 7pm and 8 am, you only pay for parking during the day yourself.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the canal. The square on the alternate side of the hotel is really dra...

Stayed here for four nights in late August with Travelsphere tour. Very clean right on the edge of the Old Town. Comfy beds and hot showers. Rooms spotless and cleaned every day. Good buffet breakfast. Walking distance from train station.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the weir look lovely but can be noisy.

Stayed four nights as part of a group. Annecy is a lovely town and the location of the hotel is very central and also just five minutes walk from the train station. Our room was tiny and very basic but clean and with a comfortable bed. The shower room also tiny although the shower was good. No tea/coffee in room, no toiletries, one very small lift, but on the positive side there is free wi-fi including in the bedroom. Breakfast plentiful and of a good standard. Having spoken to other tourists in the town it would seem that this is pretty representative of most of the hotels of this rating. Overall a good option.

Only a short stroll into the pretty old town, full of cafes and restaurants, and down to the lakeside. We had a canal-side room which was a lovely view, often with swans and ducks floating by, if not a bit noisy with the window open (we were directly above the weir so the sound of rushing water was very loud).

Although not very big, the room was spotlessly clean and well equipped. We had a room on the second (top) floor which seems to have much higher ceilings than rooms on the lower floors - an important consideration in hot weather, although the air conditioning worked very well. I was impressed with the shower which had two heads - rainfall and handheld.

The only negative point was the synthetic foam mattress - this seems to be standard in Ibis hotels - which I find too hot.

The breakfast buffet was well worth the extra fee - a very good self-service cold buffet selection plus hot pancakes and tortilla.

The staff were all very considerate and helpful - even during the frequent malfunction of the single, small lift.

This is definitely one of the best Ibis hotels I have stayed at and I would happily book again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the canal side and pay extra for the breakfast.

The location, and the parking beneath, are more than optimal for the old town of Annecy. This is the key reason to select this hotel.

Countless restaurants, including the very best ones in town, are just around the corner.

The rooms are adequate and clean. We particularly enjoyed the river noises beneath our window.

The breakfast buffet (separate charge) was perfectly adequate and plentiful.

All staff were particularly friendly, courteous and helpful.

The single elevator was useful, but painfully slow and often occupied for minutes and minutes, probably by the cleaning staff.

The location of the Ibis Annecy could not be more perfect, right in the middle of the old town with views over the river. You might expect to pay a lot more for the location alone, but this being an Ibis, the room rates are very reasonable albeit basic in accommodation. We are members of the Accor group and get an extra discount making it even better value. Breakfast was typical, including fresh fruit and local patisseries, with freshly cooked tortilla and crepes offered too. Our table overlooking the ducks on the river was lovely.
Parking was ideal underneath the hotel, with a voucher for overnight stays which greatly reduced the cost. As it was the Firework weekend, we decided to avoid the stress of parking and left the car in the carpark for 3 days.
One to be recommended in our opinion, you can't go wrong for a short stopover.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back overlooking a small square with a tiny balcony. It might be better to speci...

We've stayed at this hotel several times and it is a great location......right next to the Old Town with paid parking just below the hotel.

Rooms are basic but comfortable......get one on the canal side, open the window and hear the water rushing by below.

Walk to the lake through the Old Town or walk to the commercial modern section of Annecy....everything is close by......good restaurants, the canals, etc.

Room Tip: Canal side has a nice view.
