Hotel Sous les Figuiers

Fig trees and flowers surrounded our patio and it would have been lovely to sit out on the patio and enjoy our lovely surroundings, but the neighbor who owns the villa that is attached to the hotel, directly in front of the patio rooms, was burning in his back yard for a day and a half while we were there and the smoke was blowing right into the patio rooms. The hotel staff said there was absolutely nothing they could do about it.
Also, we asked if we could leave a day early and were told that we would still be charged. My husband's allergies were really bother him.
I also agree with the comment on the breakfast. We were asked if we wanted a continental breakfast delivered to our patio in the mornings. We said certainly and then found out when we checked out that they had charged us 25 Euro. We knew there would be a charge, but that was too much.
Also, there is a sports field behind the hotel and we did have noise from that during the day. At night there was a carnival in town during our entire stay. It was not the charming St. Remy that I had pictured. The carnival didn't help but even without the carnival, the town didn't have the charm that I was expecting. I also didn't feel entirely safe walking from town to our hotel. Most likely due to the carnival there were a lot of local in town during the day and evening and the people there are generally poorer, or appear to be so.
I would recommend going to some of the beautiful towns along the wine road south of Dijon, like Beaune, verses a visit to St. Remy.

Room Tip: Don't choose a patio room unless you want to risk smelling smoke the entire time.

Fig trees and flowers surrounded our room. The patio was quiet and private. Breakfast was delicious. A five minute walk to the town centre was very convenient. The owners were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this lovely 'bed and breakfast'.

Room Tip: Any room would be perfect

A lovely, calm place to stay in the centre of the town with secure parking.
Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Normally stay at a larger hotel in St. Remy but we enjoyed the Sous Les Figuiers personal touch.
Will definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately, I cannot give Sous Les Figuiers a wonderful recommendation. Initially I was enchanted with the garden and the smell of the figs and the breakfasts but at the end of five days I was disappointed. The continental breakfasts at 12.50 euros per person were over priced, tedious and lacking. A boiled egg or cereal would have been appreciated as a change of pace.

There was no TV in the room or lobby and while on vacation I don't really need one. Wifi is available but no printer . A broken down computer clearly in view was a stressful daily reminder that i had to figure out how to get a boarding pass. When I asked Kups, she finally offered to let me use her computer.

We rented the Mazet cottage which was adequate but no ironing board so Kups offered to have "her girls" iron my two pairs of pants for 5 euros ( yes really).

And finally, the beds were uncomfortable. Both my husband and I woke up with aching backs which is not a good thing when you want to have a successful vacation.

Katherine who was the afternoon person was lovely and helpful.

What a lovely little hotel. The staff were so welcoming, i was sad to leave them! So very helpful too. I have no complaints whatsoever about Hotel Sous Les Figuiers and would highly recommend that you stay here if you visit Saint Remy. Pool was amazing. Breakfast was lovely. Can't wait to go back!

From the moment we arrived when we were greeted warmly by one of the proprietors, we knew we had found a gem of a place to stay in the heart of St Remy de Provence.
There are many places to choose from here but we will always return to this place based on its charm and simplicity and the genuine hospitality shown to us.
The rooms are simply furnished in provençal style. The bed very comfortable and we had 2 peaceful nights sleep.

The garden has an abundance of figs, ripe and delicious, as was our breakfast.

The added bonus of on site secure parking must also be mentioned as finding a space on the street is not so easy in this town where there is a lot of traffic.

Merci beaucoup! We'll be back.

This place is always wonderful. Kups and Gisele have made the hotel so beautiful, Kups with the art work and Gisele with their garden. We have been coming here now for many years and their welcome and the ambience of the hotel is magic. There is safe and secure parking, which is a godsend when you are travelling by car. Breakfasts are lovely with really fresh produce and home-made jams, fruit salads and fresh squeezed juices. We love our room which is big and airy, perfect AC and a beautiful big bathroom, well-appointed with towels and toiletteries. Parfait!
