As international travelers, we have to say that we spent a significant part of our lifes in restaurants all around the world. Les Terrasses de l'Image is one of these greatest places where you have to be and organize a memorable meal with your spouse or girlfriend. Every meal is just terrific and the quality of the local ingredients is 5 stars. Expect very fine flavors you'll hardly get somewhere else. The service is impeccable and they also have some great local wines. For the dessert, don't miss the "Tainori chocolate". Olivia & Christophe

This is the place to go when you've ditched the kids.

You know, the moment you're seated, that the staff is professional and you're in for a terrific fine dining experience. The service was impeccable. The servers had the good sense to be standing at the table when they were needed and they were disappeared the rest of the time.

The fixed menu options allowed for liberal choices, allowing all of us to choose from these options, with interesting fare served with magnificent presentation, including tiny flower petals.

The wine choices were excellent -- which, in France, they ought to be, right?

And then it was topped off by the cheese cart which delivered one of the better cheese selections we've seen in the years we've lived in France.

For some reason, despite arriving for the first seating we found ourselves among the last to leave. All in all, the combination of well-executed elements to our meal had all of us looking forward to the time we can repeat the experience.

[Please note that this review is from May 2013. I have read a more cautionary review from September that suggests a management change in that interim. We will be returning around Christmas and I will be prompt about posting an update at that time, but others may want to put more weight on reviews from people who have dined at La Terrasse since this past summer if there has been a change in the restaurant management.]

Dear Madam, Dear Sir,
We would like to thank you for this very nice review.
The restaurant management didn’t change during the summer and we will continue this year with about the same team.
The whole restaurant staff was new at the beginning of 2013 and all of them are focused on quality both in the dishes and through the service from the beginning. We consider all reviews with attention, what help us to continue to improve all services.
Unfortunately, we can’t welcome you around Christmas because our hotel and restaurant are closed until March the 27th of 2014 but we will be pleased to welcome you next spring.
Thank you again for rewarding the restaurant team through your review.
Best regards and see you soon.

We stumbled upon Les Terrasses de l'Image while searching for dinner the night we arrived in St. Remy de Provence. It was our 41st anniversary, which I mentioned when speaking with the friendly and very accommodating young man at the reception desk of the Hotel de l'Image, in which the restaurant is located. We were very casually dressed for the formal looking dining room, but were told that was no problem, so I made a reservation for 7:30, though I was told there were no patio tables remaining.

When we returned, we were led straight to the tranquil patio, to one of the best tables there, overlooking the beautiful gardens! I selected the Formule du Jour, which most patrons appeared to choose: a lovely gazpacho topped with a sublime froth of chevre, followed by a melange of fish accompanied by creamy with just enough texture smashed potatoes. My husband chose the a la carte first course of a sashimi style tuna with baby carrots drizzled with a fresh pea cream sauce, and served under a dome filled with smoke that permeated the fish. Imaginative and delicious. He followed with the trout atop a bed of fragrant white beans and a few herbs and greens. Again, excellent. The beans were flavorful and cooked to perfection. At Loris' suggestion, we had a local rose, crisp and fresh: Domaine Guilbert. (An equally good, fruitier alternative was also offered and tasted. Hard to choose.) Small whole grain and sourdough rolls were also of high quality. (Bread is always an indicator of attention to detail.) We ended with an array of regional cheeses which another of our servers guided us in selecting, and a glass of 1er Cru St. Emilion red. Excellent. We asked for the check.

Alexia, our third server, appeared with a beautiful dessert, a small molten chocolate cake with two citron and meringue pastries, the cake encircled with an artful coulis drawn heart! Then our cheese server delivered two flutes of champagne!

The excellence of the cuisine, the artfulness of the presentation, the exquisite setting and the unsurpassed and kind service (from the hotel reception service to those in the restaurant) truly made this our most memorable anniversary ever. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Les Terrasses de l'Image.

We choose the menu offered that night that included a starter, main and dessert. The food was terrible. It seemed to us like they were using up old random ingredients. Just terrible. That being said the atmosphere was lovely.
