“Charming!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

Our recent four night stay, in late June, at Mas Valentine was wonderful. The inn has been beautifully decorated and is set in a lovely garden. Our room while not huge, was very, very comfortable. The bathroom was also beautifully appointed (great hair dryer!). Our dinner, in the garden, was wonderful. To us, the best feature of the Inn was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Marie was especially helpful with advice about the area. In our opinion, the Mas and St. Remy is a terrific base from which to explore the region.

We went on a wet Wednesday and the restaurant was quiet and the chef had a day off. Obviously he trains his staff well because the food was excellent, well presented and served by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic waiter (passionate indeed).
Very good food and at a price which must be the best value in Saint Rémy de Provence.
The set menu at 32 Euros (lunch) is good value and the wine list is comprehensive.
We will return and try the evening menus.
A very nice place to sit outside when not raining but inside is also pleasant and traditional.
Locals recommend this restaurant for its quality and price/quality ration. They also have their own veg/herb and chickens and pigeons and a summer cuisine. great.

My husband and I stayed at Mas Valentine for three nights in late May. I was looking for a true Provence experience and we found it at Mas Valentine. The inn has a country setting, but is a close drive to St. Remy. It has beautiful, well landscaped grounds that feel like an oasis in the country. The inn has a historic French country feel, with modern touches - flat screen TVs, rain showers. It felt like the perfect blend of old world and modern. The room was a bit small but nicely appointed. The bathroom was contemporary and looked brand new. We stayed in the main house, and I worried we might hear our neighbors, but did not hear a peep from other guests. If I were to stay there again, I would choose the junior suites next to the main house, which have lovely little patios.

The innkeepers were gracious hosts. They struggle a bit with English at times, but were eager to learn. With a mix of franglish, we all got along fine. They were attentive and happy to oblige any request, from making dinner reservations to providing ice buckets for wine in the room.

For us, one of the most memorable aspects of our stay was the food. We had an amazing 5 course tasting menu the night of our arrival and it ended up being the best meal of our two week gastronomic trip through France and Italy! It was perfection and on par with meals we've enjoyed at 5 star restaurants in Chicago. At 65 euro pp, it felt like a bargain.

The breakfasts are also amazing - but felt a little pricey at $19 euro pp. They were bountiful with crepes, crossaints, salami and proscuitto, coffee and juice, and everything was delicious. However, would have preferred the option to have something a bit smaller at a lower price.

Other than that, all was wonderful. We would highly recommend Mas Valentine. And if you choose not to stay there, you at least must go for dinner!

Who said this? Bed was good, room nicely decorated, shower strong, easy to operate, and hot even in a very cold morning. Owners and team anxious to please and help, The farm house is cozy and elegant. The food, dinner and breakfast delicious and generous, even the 3 dogs that live in the farm are very friendly but know that they are dogs.

Room Tip: Leon is a nice room

It is difficult to contribute anything new to what other reviewers have said. Simply put, Marie, Guy, and their staff passionately aspire daiy to give their guests a unique experience in Provence. From the initial care and investment obviously required to create a very well appointed, charming and warm atmosphere to the artistry present in the lunches and dinners served by Christophe's kitchen, Mas Valentine is the perfect spot for relaxation on a weekend getaway or to use as "base" in your travels through Provence. Mas Valentine is the combination of gourmet with attentive and detailed country comfort, and we certainly look forward to future stays at Mas Valentine.

In a region famed for its fine restaurants and hotel, Mas Valentine is sure to be added to the list of true gems. From the warm and hospitable attentions of the owners/hosts, and the extraordinary sourcing of top quality products for the kitchen, to the talents of chef Christophe, this charming hotel is a total delight. The rooms are not only well-appointed, but oases of tranquility with their calm colors and cool stone. I have no doubt that we will soon be hearing that the kitchen has been awarded a Michelin star. It is a true pleasure to eat food prepared with exquisite attention to the enabling the ingredients themselves to shine through, without fuss or fancy. Like all great endeavors, the extent to which work has been done in the kitchen is almost invisible, as dish after dish of perfect flavors and textures emerges with little fanfare. Mas Valentine will repay whatever effort it takes you to get there, with an unforgettable meal or stay.

Recently opened on 14 February of 2012, the Mas Valentine is everything you would want in a Provencal hotel. Charmingly decorated in the local colors, it is a wonderful place to sit back, relax, and enjoy your surroundings. For those traveling by car, there is a private secure parking area which is always so important when your car is full, as was ours. It was my mother's favorite hotel of our entire month's holiday in the south of France and northern Italy, and she is very, very hard to please!

Mas Valentine... A story of heart " A day of November 2010, we were on visit in Provence, an intense downpour falls in Saint Remy de provence... This building of character wich we guessed behind high trees, a great simplicity but a real charmer... It was it, what we had dreamed, authentic without make-up, love at first sight! This is the way: ONCE UPON A TIME, in Provence, was born the Mas Valentine..." Marie Gabrielle et Guy Soulerot A Mas at the heart of the massif of Alpilles, Saint Remy de Provence, in a stretch of wilderness of more than one hectare, raises itself this authentic Mas of the end of the 18th century, where we cultivated the flower for the perfumers of Grasse. After a complete renovation of several months, the Mas valentine, Provencal house of charm and character, open its doors the summer, 2012. Since we cultivate there: the authenticity, the welcome, the conviviality, the gastronomy... ... more   less
