If you love visiting ancient ruins, this is the lace for you! The foundations and layout of this Greek and then Roman town are well reserved. You can stroll though and imagine what it would have been like during its active years.

“Impressive and user friendly”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Were not planning to visit Glanum initially but glad we did. We were surprised to find such an impressive site without the usual requisite pomp and circumstance. Nice small building to buy the tickets, with a little gift shop. Parking was very easy. The sight was not crowded at all so it was a pleasure strolling through this very cool ancient town. The structures were also well labeled and the descriptions were clear and very informative. Nice way to spend a couple of hours.

“A Must Visit, Great Archaeological Site!”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised with our visit to Glanum today. There are such fabulous ruins here that can be reached by foot (20 minutes) or by car from Saint Remy. Allow at least 2 hours for your visit to this well documented (by several stations in French and English) and don't forget to take the route to the Belvedere viewing area for the best panorama of the entire Glanum area and beyond.

This treasure is well worth paying the 7.50 Euro for and if you want to walk from Saint Remy, there is no reason not to take the Van Gogh walk from the south end of the city to the Glanum ruins- get a map at your hotel for the many stop points.

The roman settlement here was so advanced and impressive
Over the years, we have seen the site expand and it is humbling to see how advanced that civilization actually was

Living now in the USA, but having grown up in the UK, I had become accustomed to Roman ruins, and almost sat out this visit. I am SO glad that I didn't miss it. It is an extensive site and beautiful against the back drop of Les Alpilles. If you can manage it, take the walk up the hill. The views are astonishing.
