Mas de la Croix d'Arles
Reviewed March 28, 2013

In March, we spent 5 nights at Mas de la Croix d'Arles. Immediately the cordial Marsot family made us feel welcome and at ease in this lovely b&b. The rooms are freshly decorated yet still have the feel of true Provencal country interior architecture. The b&b rooms as well as the 2 gites are quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed having our own very private space to relax in. Jordane is a creative dynamo and has put together restful, yet lively living spaces. We were treated to the best coffee and delicious breakfast each morning and given excellent advice on sights to explore. Mas de la Croix d'Arles is only a 10 minute walk from the centre of St. Remy de Provence so we explored the town, the ruins at Glanum and the gardens at St. Paul de Mausole quite easily on foot. On Jordane's recommendation, we changed the day we visited Arles. The Arles market is NOT to be missed!!! Several other destinations that she suggested definitely enhanced our visit to this beautiful part of Provence and the Camargue. We very much enjoyed our stay at this special country Mas and hope that we'll be able to return soon. The next time, we'd like to stay longer - in one of their gites.

Many thanks Jordane! Best wishes to La Famille Marsot (Etienne aussi!!)

When we turned into the driveway of the B&B we knew we had made the right decision for our 4 night stay in St.Remy de Provence. This feeling was further confirmed when Jordane showed us to our double room in a stone building in the grounds. Our room had all the style of a boutique hotel and we loved relaxing in the room and sitting outside in the gardens with our glass of wine and books. Etyan, the friendly family dog would often come and keep us company. Jordane has created an atmosphere of relaxation and calm and was always available if we needed her yet never intrusive. Her attention to detail was evident in the cleanliness of our room and en suite. Breakfast was served in her country kitchen with fresh croissant's, bread, juice, yogurts, homemade jam & grapes from the vines in the garden.

The B&B is an excellent base for exploring the area without having to drive very far and we took trips to Pont du Gard, Uzes and Les Baux. A particular favourite was the Friday morning market in Eygalieres, recommended by Jordane, it was one of the nicest markets we visited during our trip. St.Remy de Provence itself is a fifteen minute walk away along a small canal bank. There are plenty of shops and restaurants and it is worth taking the time to visit Cloitre St.Paul-de-Mausole to learn about Van Gogh's time there.

I don't think you could be disappointed with a stay in this B&B and we would happily return again.

We stayed for one night only at this delightful mas. Very comfortable room, so clean and quiet, yet only about 10 -15 minute walk from the centre of St Remy de Provence, itself a lovely small town. We stayed in one of the outbuildings, very tastefully decorated and furnished.
Jordane prepared a delicious breakfast for us.
Her gorgeous dog, Eytan, also took good care of us!
This is a great base for exploring some wonderful places nearby: St Remy de Provence, Glanum, Les Baux, Isle sur la Sorgue etc.
I would highly recommend this B&B. Excellent value for money.

We stayed here for 3 days in early October in one of the outbuildings and loved it. It is exactly as the pictures show. It has a lovely provencal country atmosphere and is a great base for visiting the surrounding areas, easy drive to Pont du Gard, Isle sur la Sorgue, Glanum, les Baux etc. We enjoyed sitting outside, dining and wining, among olive trees and grape vines (we had the grapes at every breakfast)with the gorgeous view of les Alpilles. Jordane is a lovely hostess, helpful with plans and directions. Breakfast is very good with fruit and yogurt, orange juice and great coffee. Very quiet and private but close to the town for bakeries, restaurants etc.
I would just warn to not try and arrive the first time at night

We stayed at Mas de la Croix d'Arles in August 2011. Jordane met us in Arles to help us find the way to the house, and we were put up in the beautiful Main House. The stone buildings are gorgeous and we all enjoyed having a dip in the pool to cool down. Jordane was very helpful and we had a very memorable and relaxing two nights. The garden and surroundings are beautiful and there is lots to explore and see nearby. We hope we can visit again one day! All the best from New Zealand. Hugh, Ismene, Tamina and Fabian

It was a beautiful B&B. I loved staying here. The buildings were very beautiful, breakfast was good, and the room was clean and pleasant. The location was perfect - 10 mins walk from the centre of Saint Remy. The landlady was very kind. The way to the town was beautiful and easy to find. We were based on here for the five-day Provence trip and it was perfect for looking around the area. Can also see many stars at night here.

Four of us stayed here and uniformly found the Mas to be most atmospheric -- very Provence. We were split between the studio (queen bed with a fully equipped kitchen & sitting area) and one of the units with twin beds. Both were comfortable and distinctively designed in state of the art "compagne" style. Both rooms had comfortable beds, good shower pressure, and were completely tranquil. Even with a mistral, we managed to enjoy some lovely lunches and aperos at tables in the extensive garden with views toward the Arpilles. Breakfast was standard continental fare but well above average given the fresh yogurts, home made jams and as-much-coffee-as-you-want.

Internet was available, though the connection was limited to the area just in front of the main house. Bring soap and shampoo for the bathrooms. Though we didn't cook much, the kitchen appeared to be well equipped. On hot days, there is an appealing plunge pool. Both our rooms were accessible for someone with limited mobility -- a consideration for our group.

5 stars to Jordane, our hostess, who was most welcoming and helpful with suggestions and directions.

We've stayed in St Remy before: on the value for money, atmosphere, tranquility & location scales, the Mas is the clear winner.
