We only had one night here as we needed be begin our journey home to Australia, but loved it. We would definitely love to come back and settle in for longer.. The tree lined entry and immediate welcome from staff , to the dinner in the restaurant was just perfect. We would stay longer and tour more of the area on our next visit. We would also have loved to see the different types of accomodation on site but time limited us. Next time !

I was recommended to stay here by a friend and I was hopeful having read trip advisor this would be a nice place to stay and it lived up to all good reviews. Rooms are excellent- we had large bathroom king bed and it was a medium/elegant room- next time I would get deluxe purely as they are truly stunning rooms but our was more than adequate. The food was wonderful and I urge people to have dinner and breakfast there at least once and more if you can. St remy was the ideal base and the staff were incredibly helpful with places vineyards markets etc to do. I would go back!

Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Spent two weeks here as a base for visiting St. Remy and the surrounding region. The staff were warm, friendly and attentive. The restaurant was superb, head waiter excelled. The chateau and grounds are better in person. A must visit for anyone seeking ambience, peace and quiet and rare experience.

My wife and I stayed at the Chateau des Alpilles for a week in August and would highly recommend a visit. We stayed in Le Loft which is a recently renovated Junior Suite and could not be faulted. We tremendously enjoyed dinning outside the front of the Chateau each evening and the food was superb. The location is a little far from St Remy to walk for an evening meal but we were quite happy to eat at the Chateau apart from the one night the kitchen is closed (Wednesday) when we cycled into town. Breakfast is served till 1130 which was most convenient! The pool is a little small for serious swimming but there are plenty of sun loungers and space. The pool side restaurant is popular with locals which detracted a little from the ambience and you felt a little on display when taking a dip whilst observed by lunch guests. The tennis courts were used extensively for coaching of local kids and if you were keen to get on court oneself you would have to negotiate and fit around the lessons. Would definitely go back and a great location to explore the region.

We had 8 amazing nights at the Chateau with my wife and 3 young children (6,7,9) in The Chapel which was perfect for our needs. The rooms were wonderfully appointed and very clean. The setting has to be seen to be believed. Expansive lawns, beautiful plane trees, great swimming pool (if a little bracing), tennis courts and the wonderful 19th century buildings. Unlike some other reviews our children were warmly welcomed and the service they were given was outstanding. We dined at the restaurant a number of time for breakfast, lunch and dinner and if the weather allows it's hard to picture a more ideal setting to dine than outside in the courtyard. It was with a heavy heart that we left this beautiful and tranquil place and long to return one day.

My wife and I just spent three great nights here. I can really only think of positives. First, it is located about a mile outside St. Remy, which is a nice little town with plenty of good restaurant options and a good Van Gogh history. You can spend a day in St. Remy doing the historical sites and shopping. The distance from town could be a problem if you don't have a car but it is a flat walk and the staff assured us that many guests walk to town.

The tree-lined drive is impressive and immediately you have the impression that you will be staying somewhere special. It is very regal in an old world way. We found the furnishings very nice and generally antique. The artwork and architectural detail of the home added to the ambiance.

They serve breakfast and dinner but we opted to eat in town. I'm sure both were very good.

We loved that we could smell burning wood in the morning either from somewhere in the Chateau or a nearby farm. It was great for Fall. (We live in LA and really don't get crisp Fall mornings and certainly no smell of burning wood, unless its a brush fire.) It is also very dark at night, making the chateau all the more welcoming and cozy. Very peaceful grounds with generally no man-made outside noise. Its pretty quiet in general.

I met a couple others who told me the Chateau was "The" place to stay in St. Remy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and hope to someday soon. The only negatives for some might be the distance from town. We liked that it was on the outskirts. You might have issues if you are handicapped, although they do have an elevator. The only other thing is the cost. I don't have the bill in front of me, but we paid $350 -$400 per night. All in this is a very good choice and I'm sure you will have a memorable stay.

Room Tip: The main house is old world with antique furnishings and lots of charm. We didn't see the addit...

We stayed one night at Ch. Des Alpilles in the main building (#12). The room was clean and spacious. Furnishings are traditional. It was reasonably quiet and had a nice view of the grounds.
The restaurant was a very nice surprise. We had dinner on the terrace outside. The service, food and wine were all excellent.
Staff were all friendly and professional.
The grounds are very large and pleasant.
The hotel is situated a couple of km outside of town.
We would be happy to return.
