This restaurant used to be called Le Jardin de Frédéric and was wonderful. However a couple of years ago, it changed hands and unfortunately went from being a fantastic place to eat, to somewhere I will never eat again.

We booked a table the week before for five of us; a family meal. When we turned up, the table that we had booked was occupied and we were pushed toward a group of tables that had been hurriedly arranged in one tiny corner of the outside seating.

After ordering (from initially what looked like a very nice menu) we were dismayed at having to wait for over half an hour for it to be served, only to have half of the party receive their starters 20 minutes before the others. We complained to the young waiter who was most affronted and said there was nothing they could do, “they were busy”.

The same happened with the main course which was served to all five of us across a 15 minute period (and which was also cold by the time it arrived on the table). Again we complained and at this point the waiter became verbally aggressive, argumentative and threatening. This is certainly not the sort of behaviour you’d expect in a restaurant in France (or anywhere else for that matter).

All in all, a horrible experience and a once great restaurant, wrecked. As for the comment about being busy, well all I can say is that you can visit any one of a number of fast-food outlets who are busy all the time, the fact remains that the standard of food in one of those places is superior to Les Saveurs de Provence!

Eat at your own risk.... and don’t question the waiter… in fact, just walk on by and find somewhere else…. There are plenty of other ( and better) places to eat in Saint Remy.

Not all French restaurants can, or need to be, superb temples to dining. Sometimes you want a place that's simply comfortable, with a good menu and reasonable pricing. Saveurs de Provence fills that bill. The tiny little restaurant oozes charm and warmth, with seating on the terrace and several small dining rooms. There is one three-course menu for 27 euro that offers a choice of three appetizers, three plats, and several desserts, plus a nice a la carte menu and some house specials - aioli and Bouillabaisse. All the dishes that we had on our visit were well prepared. The wine list is primarily local, with reasonable pricing. If you're not comfortable in French, service can be a bit rudimentary, as the staff - at least when we were there for lunch - has minimal knowledge of English. Still, they make every effort to make sure you get what you want and are satisfied. With all of the choices in St. Remy, we wouldn't rush back here to experience more of the menu, but we would be more than comfortable with another relaxed meal here.

After a recommendation from our apartment manager, we had a delightful meal here on a last night in St Remy de Provence. The menu was varied and interesting and all in French! The staff didn't speak English, but with our limited French vocabulary we managed fine. The meals were all tasty and fresh with some real surprises in the combinations. The price was good for the quality. Their wine list was good with many local wines listed. Would definitely recommend it to other visitors.

We had such bad service here that at least it makes a good story... The waiter was just awful, he brought out the aioli sauce for the main dish long before he even brought the appetizer, just plunked it down with no explanation. My husband's entree arrived 45 minutes after mine... every time I tried to talk to the waiter he responded with 'is Ok, is OK' and took off. Another employee saw what was happening and came over to apologize, she says they can't fire him for some reason... At least it gave me an opportunity to practice my paltry French language skills! The chef even snuck out on a back street to have a look at us from afar but he didn't come over to the table. Our glass of wine was taken off the bill as compensation but that was it.

We went to this restaurant upon reading reviews on Tripadvisor and lafourchette.com. We called to reserve and ask if there were vegetarian options on the menu, to which the person on the telephone said there were many choices. When we arrived, we found the restaurant completely full and our table seemed to have been added right in front of the passageway between the two rooms. The server was less than attentive, it took way to long to get the menus, order drinks, and then food (even for French standards). When we asked what were the possibilities for vegetarians, he responded that he would tell the chef to make a veggie "menu" with 2 courses. This menu was nothing but a salad as a first course and steamed vegetables as the main dish. Both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian options were OK, although nothing special and definitely not worth the price. The poor service (it seemed like a joke...it was that bad) and close tables made for a great ambiance between groups complaining, joking around, and talking about other restaurants in the area.
