Owner description: The garden " alcinnos" is a place of dreams and meditation is a magical place that brings back memories buried and it loses some of its cues from the modern world. Here and there a wrought iron gazebo houses a lounge contemplation.Well seated, we admire the garden like on a screen giant and dream .The paths of discovery of the Mediterranean garden are accessible to persons with reduced mobility. Most plants are listed.Visitors can also go around the field of agriculture and animal parks along the farm roads.

“Mas des Figues -- Garden of Alcinous”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

Mas des Figues, a Provencal guest house surrounded by extensive gardens and farmland, is situated in the beautiful landscape of Alpilles, near St Remy. The Garden of Alcinous is a horticultural creation of Philippe Michelot on Odyssean theme of initiation journey. A visitor is encouraged not only to walk in the garden, but also to feel, touch, dream and meditate in the presence of plants, their scents, colours and texture.
The heart of the garden is formed by three magnificent rose gardens: Roseraie aux parfums, Roseraie Iceberg and Roseraie de la roue du Dharma, with a spectrum of fine colour hues and heavenly scents. The essence of the surrounding lanscape is recreated in the Mediterranean garden, olive grove, herb garden, geranium garden and arboretum. The organic kitchen garden provides not only fresh vegetables for the B&B, but also many opportunities for the senses. The idea of a self-sufficient homestead is further developed – the property has its own fruit produce and farm animals. The gardens are irrigated by the local irrigation canal built in the 18th century – a provider of moisture and nourishment for the plants as wel as a symbol of the life-giving source. Worth a visit when the roses are in blossom. www.gardenpanorama.cz
