“Unmissable when in Marseille”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

Overlooking the old port and the ocean, this is a major monument with lots to see. You can walk up to it, but for many people it is probably a good idea to take the little train from the Old Port. Lots to see and great vies from here - those who are fit will get the most out of it, but there are facilities that will allow anyone to see a great deal. If you have visited Notre Dame de la Garde, you simply haven't visited Marseille.

“Wow”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

Plan your trip here cause it is a huge uphill hike but a pleasant walk. The views at the top is magnificent and the basilique is truly a sight. The huge gold statue of Jesus and Mary can be seen afar several places in the city centre so it's defintely nice knowing you've actually been to the basilique. For those with children or hiking uphill is a challenge, the tourist train does make a stop here.

“Worth to see it youself”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Great place to take a look at Marseille, the sea and the surrounding hills. The basilica itself is really impressive, but inside the combination of the overall style with hundreds of small pictures on the walls seems a little bit weird.

“Take the little train to see the church”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

I took my three kids to see the church. We went to the old port and took the mini tourist train which cost a few euros each. I think around 7 euros. The train takes 10 minutes to get you to the church taking you along the water which ads to the visit. The church itself is much smaller than i though inside. With the kids we spent only 45 minutes in teh church before they got bored plus the Mistral wind was crazy strong so it was freezing to walk around. We easily caught the next tourist bus back and were glad we visited the church.

“Worth visiting for a great view”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

very interesting church and certainly worth a visit for the most stunning view of Marseille. To get the full experience certainly worth going on foot, but it is a bit of a climb. So if you are frail or don't like walking take a cab.
