I'll make a long story short,
-bad service
- 15euro menu to lure you in
- not specially good food.

It was a pity because I had a long way to Marseille and really wanted a nice meal with a cold beer, u know the feeling to relax.

The personnel was so stressed and they were so unstructured that it made me very uncomfortable. Sometimes you could give a good review if the service is good and ambition is high.. In this case nothing was good, I would give it a * only if it wasn't for a young dark man who made the night better. (Really tried and was very ambitious) I feel sorry for him because he really could get more of his energy in another restaurant. If you want to eat in marseille there is other much better places..

My dam roaming didn't work so I couldn't se all the bad review before I got in the restaurant.

“Yes it's in the tourist area of the port but the food is good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

It had started to rain so we were looking for somewhere inside and they were quickly filling up. We chose L'Esquinade and were not disappointed. There were linen tablecloths and napkins and it had more upmarket feel to it than some other places. We had a Fritto Misto and a Coquilles St Jacques & mussels to start with and followed it with grilled salmon with vegetables and monkfish with truffels and a creamy sauce. The service was good and we had no complaints.

“Best for our bucks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2014

The best menu for your bucks in the entire French Riviera
We were looking for a place to lunch and found this place close to the Vieux Port.
15 euros for a 3 course lunch including starter, main course, desert and a glass of wine.
Had 3 lunch sets and requested some pasta for the little one.
Tried the starters: sea snails with aioli, crusty mozzarella and shrimps. main courses: pasta and salmon, bouillabaisse. Dessert: profiteroles with hot chocolate and chantilly. Glasses of white Chardonnay.
Quality was unbelievable for the price. They only charged 5 euros for the pasta.
Very courteous staff, calm setting. Nice tableware. No rush.
Without any doubt our best lunch experience in the French Riviera.
Total 50 euros including taxes.

“We walked out - don't walk in”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2014

The only saving grace was that our waiter was understanding and apologetic. We all ordered steaks. Our friends each ordered a cheaper steak (both well done) and we ordered what was supposed to be fillet steak (medium rare). Our friends steaks came up first and one of the 'well done' steaks was rare. So it went back. So one person is eating and the other three are waiting. Then the waiter came back to apologise but both our medium rare fillet steks had been overcooked. He then came back with one of the well done fillet steaks and offered this to our other friend. So now two people are eating but the fillet steak doesn't look that good. After a very long wait our steks arrived and they were awful. By this time, both our firends had finsihed their steaks which they admitted were not good and our bottle of wine was finished. We decllined to eat the steaks and as stated earlier, the waiter was very apologetic. We paid for the two steaks and the wine and left. The premises were pleasant and the chairs were comfortable. It is surprising that I remember that given the incredibly bad food.

“Sad restaurant”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2014

Sad service and awful food ... seriously, this is in MARSEILLE, land of bouillabaisse and they served a thin average broth with a couple chunks of fish in it.... whhaaaat? None of the food was good. And our waiter couldn't be bothered with us at all. Even when I told him it was my friend's birthday, he marched past our table, murmuring "bon anniversaire" without even glancing at her. I've never eaten at such a poor restaurant at the Vieux Port. Wow. Stay away from this place!
