Like most of the other Novotel, we already have been, this also has the usual Standard Interiour. Nothing special, but all was pretty clean there. At the Reception was a good and friendly Service (they speak good english there). In Lobby was also a Computer for Internet Acces. We did liked their Breakfast buffet. Especially the Bread and Coffee was better then expected. very good was the Swimmingpool!

I was looking for a hotel on the east side of Marseille because I was attending a race meeting at the the Paul Ricard circuit (20 mins drive). The hotel was very easy to find coming from the Aix direction and had secure parking with some shade. The rooms are standard Novatel but lacked a safe (shame). Their is a pleasant pool to cool off in and the restaurant has outside seating beside the pool. I had a good meal in the restaurant and slept well because the sound proofing was excellent. The pool outside dining area could be noisy with traffic close by. I would not recommend this hotel as "destination" but if its position suits your needs it could be a good, reasonably priced choice. Other downsides - the hotel laundry only has a 48hr turn round and no service at weekends. Public transport appeared to be non-existent - you would need a taxi into Marseille.

We're a family of 2 adults and 2 little children. We booked this hotel for just one night, our last night in holidays in the south of France, since we were not able to prolong our stay at our previous hotel (booked out). Finding a hotel in August in this region is rather difficult, and we wanted one with a pool as major criterion (aside from being affordable).
The Novotel brand is usually a guarantee for an above-average hotel experience, but this one, obviously dating straight out of the seventies, doesn't really stand to its brand. I've been in much nicer Ibis and Etap hotels (which belong to Accor too, but which are rated below Novotel).

The room: not really large for 2 adults with 2 kids, there was a double bed, and a sofabed for 2. But the sofabed being extended, you just had a small corridor around the double bed. We had a room with view to the pool area, well granted there wasn't this large pine, blocking the view. But at least it was quiet, because the hotel is actually squeezed between two highways, so if you're unlucky enough to get a room to the road, it will be rather a business experience.
I was disappointed about the slightly unpleasant odor in the room, might have been a cleaning solutions or something, or maybe it was the old carpet. But it smelled definitely a bit like barf at the foot of the double bed. The room was however at least cool (air condition), and I appreciate that.

The pool: quite large, square, but not very children friendly. It is too deep for little children, and the pavement flags were old, brittle, and hurted the feet, were very dirty in addition.

The location: as mentioned, inbetween a highway and a major road, in a commercial area. Not very nice, but it's only a 5 minutes drive to a shopping area with some giant stores.

Staff: very friendly, very helpful, actually the only thing reminding me that I was indeed staying in a Novotel. Well, the bar and restaurant were renovated or improved too.

Next door is a F1 hotel costing just a third of what the Novotel costs. I started to wonder if the pool access was really worth that much. It would have been cheaper for us to book two rooms at F1, with more space, and probably newer than the Novotel, but well, no pool.

Room Tip: Rooms with view to the pool are probably more quiet than the ones to the road

The hotel belongs to the Novotel chain, which normally stands for superior business class hotels. This hotel seems to be an upgraded Ibis; not very new, plastics bathrooms; not very nicely carpeted floors; in the minibar there was an Evian water bottle that had been already opened; this problem seemed to be known already. I was not charged for the bottle, but the bottle was not replaced, either. Rooms are not very calm and quiet as the hotel is surrounded by highways on each side.
The restaurant also is not quite the French haute cuisine and it is too strongly air-conditioned.

Rooms are sufficiently big, however. There is also free WiFi in the rooms and it works fine. The service was friendly and the staff competent and helpful.

All in all the hotel is functional for a business stay - but regarding the price it is a bit disappointing.
