“Residence du Vieux Port Hotel in Marseille”

We stayed twice within two weeks at this hotel. It is nicely located in the downtown area of the old port and offered us easy access to many attractions and restaurants. The staff were very solicitous, helpful and friendly. The accommodations were comfortable and the room had a great view of the old harbor. The decor of the hotel is a retro-artsy/funky look which is upbeat and lighthearted. The breakfast at the restaurant was delicious with a great selection of pastries, scrambled eggs, waffles with real maple syrup, etc. Good coffee too.
All the way around a good price for such an enjoyable stay.

What these other photos and reviews fail to reveal is that there is massive street construction going on in front of the hotel. You literally can not drive up to the hotel. I circled for almost an hour before parking a quarter a mile away and walking into the reception. There they gave me the very bad attitude that "I should have called". This inspite of the fact that they had both my number and email and the conditions of the booking said they would contact me if something important happened.

It didn't get better. Can you imagine a suposed five star hotel where you have to carry your own bags and park your own car? I couldn't either and canceled the reservation and left. Unless you are absolutely certain this construction is finished, I would be cautious of staying here.

This hotel is located very well right on the Vieux Port, is acceptably clean, the bed is very comfy, the staff very helpful and the bathroom has lovely toiletteries. Value wise it is as expected in a large city.
The not so positives are small, no shower curtain so we did get water everywhere when we showered and the room decor just didn't quite hit it with us. But that is personal preference rather than anything specifically wrong. The breakfast and mini bar were too expensive for us so we never availed of either. €4 for a small packet of crisps and €18 eack for breakfast!
If I were to return to Marseille would we stay here again? Yep probably.

This quaint, functional hotel is perfect for a traveling group. The apartment was super clean with the best views intown and the staff were super friendly. We arrived early and they rushed to clean a room to accommodate our early arrival. Restaurants nd shopping at your doorstep. This place will be te talk of the town once the port works have finished.

Took the sky suite last April. Arrived there around 11 PM, only to be totally positively surprised by the view over the whole harbor and the hills of Notre Dame de la Garde at night, the view is equally amazing during the day. The room is really nice ans spacious and the terrace is quite pleasant. Very friendly staff as well. No incidents recorded at all during the 2 nights I stayed there. I don't know about the restaurant and the breakfast because I didn't have any food at the hotel.
Very tempted to go back soon!

Receptionists are extremely kind and helpful, interior is nicely decorated with a funny touch. I stayed in the room "CLUB PLUS 3 pers OLD PORT View" with a 30% discount through the hotel's website. The room was great, nice small balcony, view is stunning, bed is comfortable, big bathtub, separated shower and separated toilet. Perfect temperature during the night. It was sunday so it was rather quiet in the night, I guess it can be noisy on other days (they're currently working on the renovation of the road downstairs, so during week days at the moment is probably rather noisy). I didn't have any lunch, dinner or breakfast in the hotel.

I travel the world and this lovely hotel with exquisite views of the harbor and Nortre Dame de la Garde is on my top 10 list. I fly in and out of Marseille and look forward to a night or two at the hotel where from my balcony I can watch the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The hotel has 50 rooms all smartly appointed. My favorites are the club rooms. I have discovered some are a bit more spacious than others. The construction this past year has been a nightmare in the harbor for everyone. When it is finished it will be lovely. The hotel resturant is very good, but there are so many to explore in Marseille, one should really search them out. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is too bad the hotel doesn't have a spa or gym. They do not have parking. If in a car you must park at the Hotel De Ville a couple of blocks away for 10 € a night, very safe and secure. On our last visit my partner and I went on a catamaran voyage for the day, the boat departs very close to the hotel. It was truly a beautiful day spent on the water. Great crew and a delicious lunch. Marseilles is a fascinating city, always a joy to explore.
