“Where the action is”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

This is the always busy area of Marseille. Full of tourists, restaurants, shops, etc. Not to be missed is especially the fish market that takes place every day until the early afternoon. Fish could not be more fresh as it has just been catch!

“Day or Night this is a must”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Quaint, beautiful, and busy. This working port is like walking in back in another time. Pleasure craft, commercial fishing vessels, and the old and new buildings in Marseille. After walking around in the day time, come back after sunset for a completely different vibe. Enjoy the mirror art, the sound of a lone trumpeter or some young people gathering with their guitars while on the other side of the port - the party scene is happening.

You have to check this out.

This is so emblematic of Marseille. Seeing the fish market on Mondays is pretty cool, too! (But be wary of buying fish on a Monday, of course.)

“Pretty harbor”

While eating right on the Old Port may not be the best idea as it's quite touristy, strolling about in this area is very pleasant. Go and walk under the huge mirrored surface covering the narrow section (the place is U-shaped so it's the bottom of that U, can't go wrong with that)

The main central port is bustling and beautifully situated in the city center; visit the new mirrored ceiling next to the area where fisherman display the daily catch
