I just spent a few nights in the hotel and I concur with the previous reviewer who was disappointed. The house is clean and very well located, but I would not recommend it.
The service is almost inexistent. At times it seems that you are entirely alone in the house, and if people in the morning do not forget to wake up you might be served breakfast before nine. Expect rather to be served around 9:30 or 10. You won't get anything before 8:30. The breakfast consists mainly in bread, croissant and yoghurt, nothing exceptional. There is no phone or TV in the rooms. The room I stayed in was tinier than I thought, and had no windows. I wondered during my entire stay what I would do in case a fire broke out in the hotel, and I could not use the stairs, as there was absolutely no other exit in my room than the door. I did not see a smoke alarm in the room.
Although it is situated in a pleasant area with almost no traffic, it is not as quiet as you would think. You might hear guess coming back late at night, and some noise from the street, not from cars but from children playing football and banging all the doors and walls around with the ball. Note that a huge part of the area is undergoing massive construction work, the most important one, just one block from the hotel, is the transformation of the former hospice into a brand new palace. A future grandiose site but for the time being an ugly and dusty hole with a huge crane standing in the center.
After a few days I went to the New Hotel, on the other side of the Vieux Port. For the same price - what a treat and what a relief!More
