This hostel is great. Clean, really close to the center of the city and very friendly staff. does not have an elevator though so be prepared to go all the way to the 2nd floor. I spent only one night there and the people working there had a big dinner and they made me feel really welcome to join them. This hostel is family!!

Really great atmosphere - super friendly and fun! Felt like a big group of friends living together. The hostel is really clean and in a great location. Nice area to chill in and really good cooking facilities. Couldn't ask for more really...had a wicked time there and will definitely be back in the summer for some Capital of Culture celebrations!

Pros;

-- Good location close to the port and the metro
-- Free breakfast with fresh baguette and a decent kitchen
-- Nice common living room
-- Hygiene

Cons;

-- No elevator and many stairs to reach. Not easy if you are carrying heavy bags
-- Only one toilet and one shower in the hostel - can get very crowded when it is a full house
-- No Air Conditioning. Very hot during the summer months

Full credit to the guys Running it at the time, in particular Mel and Keith , you guys were brilliant, friendly helpful and a real credit to any Hostel.

Hostel was run and worked well, cleaning up your own dishes etc was a breeze, very familyish friendly atmosphere at the time we stayed there and have made life long friends I am sure! Beautiful views nearby and easy too get too, Lots of food around nearby and a delicious bakery just 20m from the entrance! Free breaky if you want and a fridge/kitchen to store food and cook when needed. Supermarkets nearby as well.

Comfortable beds and a great small hostel for anyone! Cheers for the stay!

I stayed for one night in a six dorm bed room. The staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was really good. Everything is modern; living room, kitchen and furniture are pretty new. There is free breakfast for everyone. Highly recommended!!

I only stayed two nights in Hello Marseille Hostel, but I enjoyed it fully!

This place is a perfectly renovated old house in the middle of the city, directly at the Old Port. Everything is modern, there is a nice kitchen, FREE breakfast for everyone, bright and comfortable bedrooms, modern showers, a wonderful staff, everything is clean - just perfect!

I arrived on Marseille Saint Charles and found the hostel very easy - the metro goes there in five minutes and walking takes about 15 Minutes. The Old Port is very nice to see, there are boat tours, many restaurants, shopping streets, etc.

The only bad thing to mention is the location on the third floor without elevator - but everyone is eager to help you there and it is definetely worth it!

I never saw a hostel so nicely decorated and so clean - If you can, go there and try for yourself!

My partner and I stayed here for 1 night. We shared a double bed in the girl's 6 bed dorm room with had an ensuite shower room. When we stayed, there was only 1 toilet for everyone to share in the whole hostel - i think there was about 17 of us plus staff.
The staff was very friendly, playing guitar, games and answering any questions anyone had. The location was a short walk to restaurants and the port area.
We made the mistake of getting a taxi from the airport after a long flight and ended up paying 75euros! There is a bus service that runs in to Marseille for about 10euros.

Room Tip: If you are travelling as a couple, ask for the double bed in the girl's dorm.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hello Marseille Hostel is located in a safe area in the very center of Marseille, the "Vieux Port". Our HostelHello Marseille is a brand new concept in town. We opened May 13rd 2010 in fully renovated facilities within a charming typical 19th century Haussmanian building (marble floor, high ceiling with nice mouldings, large rooms). Note: Beware, we are a backpackers hostel ...On the third floor, no lift. So to our great regret, our hostel is unfortunately not convenient for - disabled persons or persons with limited physical abilities - minors under 18, even if travelling with elders. ... more   less
