Extremely convenient when traveling as a family: a seperate living room with kitchen, balcony, hallway, bedroom, bathroom, toilet, and plenty of storage room.

Good location (in old centre, walking distance from train station). Bakery around the corner.

Surely, some of the details could be slightly better - but not a these rates!

We wanted to stay in Marseille, near the centre, for 4 nights but didn't want to eat in a restaurant 3 times a day. This hotel was a good compromise. Easier than renting an apartment but with the flexibility to make simple meals in the hotel room.

Visited the hotel in September 2012, stayed in single room for three nights. Room/apartement was nice and clean! Flatscreen tv and double sofabed (that was already made as a bed at arrival and very comfy!), and a small but functioning kitchen. The service at the reception varied from person to person, one which was not very friendly! That's the only minus. The location is quite central, 10-15 min walk from the port. Or two stations on the metero which has an entrance near by. Maybe not a place to run around alone at night, but then again, where is? We were not troubled when getting home in groups of 2+ persons at night. Marseille is a very nice and exiting city, and this hotel is well worth it's price!

We stayed here for 4 nights to have a mini break before joining a cruise in Marseille.
Our first impressions were very good, lovely modern clean reception that was always manned.
Our apartment was lucky enough to have a huge balcony which was an added bonus as there was no description of one when I booked - but there are very few balconies so try asking when you book.
The apartment itself was small but perfectly formed, modern, well decorated and very well equipped.
We slept on the sofa bed so the children could have the twin room and we could relax when they went to bed and really the only thing to let it down is the dining table has to be awkwardly moved to allow room for the bed and it's then very tight to get to the fridge or part block off the route to the bathroom. A folding table may have been a better choice than a circular table.
As mentioned it was well equipped throughout and again one small thing that was needed was a balcony light, so instead we took out the floor lamp. There are laundry facilities (washer/dryer) downstairs which cost €5 for a wash which was really handy and an ironing board/iron in the room.
The location is in a little street that was very quiet but within yards there was a late night shop selling milk/soft drinks/ fruit and a little supermarket selling everything just yards from that. We walked into Vieux Port in around 8-10 mins at a leisurely pace, straight forward, easy to get the hang of.
Would book again here without hesitation.

We wanted to go look at Marseille and I was looking for hotels until I came across the Adagio. It seemed to me the price and location of the hotel and it was a good choice! The hotel was nice, facilities were new, modern and adequate, everything was available, the rooms were quite clean. We had the apartment for 6 nights, where you could even cook something, when we were already tired of the food at the restaurant. The hotel staff was nice and helpful. There is good access to the tram and metro, 10 minutes walk and you are in the view port. The hotel has free wi-fi connection to the Internet. We were satisfied with the hotel, recommend to all.

Second stay in a hotel from Adagio chain - 1st one was in Vienna.
In terms of rooms condition I’d say those in Marseille definitely looked more fresh, clean and new. We’ve got a smart deal so it was about 200 eur for 2 persons for a 4-night stay which I believe is not bad. The hotel is located within a walking distance from the old port but quite away from the train station.
Breakfast is not worth trying; which is not a problem; there are lots of cafés and restaurants in the port; and enough of shops around to DIY given the fully equipped kitchen.
Our BIGGEST PROBLEM with this hotel was the booking/payment issues: we amended the dates of arrival and number of guests which I believe has caused a mental failure of some of their staff as they were simply not able to process such an “intricate” sequence of actions.
They charged my card prior to our arrival for the rooms that were not supposed to be pre-paid; then they charged it for the cost of the stay that was cancelled; then one day prior to our arrival they cancelled our reservation at all; all of that was happily resolved by the booking.com call center but definitely badly affected my nervous system.
So my advice: do check and double check the status of your booking and balance of your credit card prior to your arrival.

P.S. CITY TAXIS!: We found it amazingly hard to get a taxi in the city after 9 pm; even (and especially) by the train station! Either we were extremely unlucky; or it is indeed the case. No matter how hard we looked we did not manage to detect any taxis in the station area on any of the evenings we were returning from the train station after the daytrips. However we saw quite a few of taxi drivers sleeping in their cars next to Galaries Lafayettes which was already closed and deserted for 2 hours by that time; so I presume this location was specifically chosen to avoid the minimum risk of being disturbed by prospective passengers.

Our stay was only one night in this hotel, we got our room already at 10 o clock in the morning when we arrived. The style is typical for adagio, rooms were small but well arranged, staff was relatively friendly but not open to give explanations.
