I've been really enjoying my "Europe trip". A friend of mine and myself decided to go to Marseille after Paris, we wanted to get a different taste of France before to visit Spain.
We again used tripadvisor to get a nice hotel, and we can't complain about what we chose.
It's a bit old fashioned and also a bit noisy, but we didn't spend so much time in the hotel. The owner was very friendly, he helped us to book a great restaurant (I love french food now).
There is one other thing, we booked a double room, but we asked the owner if he could change us this to a twin room, and he kindly changed this to us.
For this last thing I've been tempted to give 5 points, but to be fair with tripadvisor users, this hotel deserves 4.

We booked this hotel because of the "family friendly" reviews. We reserved the family room, which is a small studio with a queen bed and two single beds, a small table, a tiny TV, and a mini-fridge. The bathroom was huge. There was a lot of street noise all night. This is really more a B&B than a "hotel." It was fine for 1 night, but I'd have felt cramped any longer.

Pros:
The owner is a family man. Nice and spoke enough English for me.
The Vapiano restaurant across the street is amazing (see my review).
There is a "yard sale" type of market on Monday mornings right outside the hotel which was fun.
Felt like a generally safe area.

Cons:
Hotel is under renovation (February 2013) - noisy during the day.
Parking was a challenge but not too bad.
WiFi Internet access was spotty.
The beds are not very comfortable (but European beds rarely are).
No individual thermostat in the room.
A lot of lime buildup on the shower heads. In general, it seemed like it could have been a bit cleaner, though nothing was "dirty."

Stayed at the Lutia for a night en route to Italy and arrived late in the day. It's not a 24 hour, hotel chain kind of place but William, (the owner/manger?), waited for us and was friendly, courteous and helpful. The family room we had was old fashioned in a good way, large and comfortable, with a bathroom the size of Luxembourg. The location was great, with free parking, and the breakfast was filling and relaxed, (always a plus in a hotel).
If you want the Marriott then this probably isn't for you but if you value friendliness, quirkiness and large, relaxed rooms for your family then I would heartily recommend the Lutia

We stayed at Hotel Lutia for 3 nights and were pleasantly surprised with everything from the service to the rooms and the breakfast. It's just a few steps from the Metro which can take you anywhere all over the city if you don't have a car. We also walked to and from Notre Dame as well which isn't that bad of a walk.

The rooms were nice and we liked having a shower and sink in our room. Bathrooms being separated from the rooms is fairly common in Europe but it was nice to be able to shower and wash up in your own room. We liked having a room that faced the street, it's all part of the experience. The windows are super good quality so when you close them it shuts our nearly all of the street noise.

The breakfast was pretty basic but enough to get us going in the morning.

The price was more than fair and the service was top notch. Phillippe was a great host with lots of knowledge about the area and more than willing to share it. He was a great help to us while we there.

We would stay here again.

This was mt Korean wife and my choice for a stopover en route from Paris to Montpellier, and we chose based on TripAdvisor ratings and price. Both of us were pleasantly surprised at a nice stay, great location, clean, economical Superior Room choice. William (and his wife and daughter) were nice to chat with and offered great advice for the region, over a nice light simple French breakfast (better than any we had in Paris).

The hotel is a 2 min walk from the metro station on a main st, so very safe also. I highly recommend this little treasure. Excellent value and cleanliness for a two-star hotel.

Room Tip: Superior room offers own bathroom and is worth it - room 9 is nice but close to the main street... T...

We stayed here for one night with 2 children. I am not someone who goes out and finds fault with places, and on the whole it was ok. But

- while the location is convenient and fairly central, it's also directly located on a big Avenue with a lot of traffic. Not very good if your room faces the Avenue du Prado as in our case.

- another problem connected is that the fan in the room only works if the main lights are on in the room. This means that you either have to sleep with open windows and traffic noise, with the lights left on or too hot to sleep.

- the bathroom has been separated from the room with a partition wall and while the bathroom is huge & spacious and really nice, the bedroom area is a little crammed. Shame one doesn't spend that much time in the bathroom.

- I am not expecting gorgeousness for the price we paid, but the beds are neither sturdy nor appealing.

On the plus side, William is very accommodating and helpful and has a solid level of English.
I would not necessarily stay here again, but it's ok for a night.
