A beautiful setting . Really brings you into contact with your Maker. Unfortunately we have missed the lavenders in full bloom...that must really be awesome! A very well stocked shop as well as coffee-vending machine available on the premises.

Set at the base of a valley, a few kms from Gordes, this austere looking church is a must for all tourists to the region. Check the web site for tours. The gardens and chapel are beautiful. And in July the lavender will be in full flower, setting off the grey stone so well. The shop does a very good trade. Boy, the catholics know how to make money! You can buy everything from biscuits to postcards, books to cd's. Rosaries to lavender products. That aside, this is a great site.

Something like this can only be seen in dreams and in Gordes. It is very peacefull and when quiet it must be like dreaming. In reality is nicer than on postcards the colours are more natural and the whole scenary in making it better. Need to go there soon again.

Beautiful site. If you are not fluent in French, go in the morning for a self-directed tour.
take photos of the Abbaye on the way there because you will drive back via a different route.

Set up in the hills and far back in the woods, this is a place of peace and serenity with no doubt. Apparently only a few monks still live and work here. You can tour the church and the dormitory if you come at the right times (no tours during mass).

Romanesque architecture in Provence is a extremely simple style stripped of all ornamentation. We walked the ground and sat through a mass with the Cistercian monks singing the music. The total simplicity if the church, the beauty of the monks singing voices (Cistercians live under a rule of silence) and the beauty of the countryside made this a magical place that everyone enjoyed.
