La Burliere Guest House
Ranked #19 of 52 Gordes B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Have just returned from a 2 night stay here and really didn't want to leave. La Burliere is charming and typically French from the tasteful, shabby-chic bedrooms with their stone floors to the beautiful courtyard with its fountains and myriad of flowers.

Marinette and her sister could not have made us more welcome. We arrived later than expected in the dark and she was waiting outside to guide us in and show us where to park. When my son asked to borrow an iron, she told him to give him her shirt and she'd do it while we went off sightseeing!

The breakfasts were rustic and delicious with three different varieties of home-made jam. La Burliere is close to the delightful town of Gordes where there are plenty of different restaurants and cafes, plus spectacular views and I think it would be impossible to find a more charming place to stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful, but if you have trouble climbing stairs then ask to stay in the one on...

These are good kind people! We ended up here late at night, exhausted from our flight with no reservation (the villa we were to rent had a problem and the villa owners set us up here for the night) - We were welcomed here with open arms (and I needed it). The Inn is lovely, peaceful and in a pretty countryside setting. Our room and bath were very nice and efficient. They recommended a great restaurant within walking distance (they did offer us dinner, but it was late and we didn't want to impose). The breakfast was simple, homemade and delicious. We loved it here and would have loved to stay longer. What could have been a disaster for us ended up being a wonderful experience thanks to these kind french people in their wonderful french country Inn.

We spent three nights here as a base for exploring the Luberon. It's a good location, comfortable but not that memorable. Marinette is eager to please, and the breakfasts are good. I thought dinner was pricey at 30 euros each for basic dishes. For the same price we had a fantastic meal at Le Vieux Bistrot (recommended by Marinette) in a nearby village. Our room was sort of a mix that just didn't quite come off. I think I'd stay in or near Rousillion next time.

We recently stayed at La Burliere for five nights and just loved this place. It is in the countryside, yet accessible to Avignon, Gordes, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Lourmarin, and dozens of small villages we did not have time to explore. Marinette, Isabel, and Thierry were helpful and gracious hosts, suggesting restaurants, markets, and must-see towns in the region. Their warm hospitality made us feel welcome and special. The baked goods at breakfast were excellent, our room was perfect, and everything was immaculate. We'd go back in a minute.

I've never written any review for my stays. This is my first review. I am writing it because I really like this B&B. We don't speak french at all, but we had no problem communicating with the sisters.

They were helpful, friendly and nice. They made us feel like home. We stayed there for 3 nights and at the end, we didn't feel like leaving. (In fact, we requested for one more night, but it was fully booked) You know, sometimes, it is the people you meet that make the trip interesting and unforgettable.

I don't think any word could express how much I like La Burliere. We like the dinner, the breakfast, the plants, the fountain and especially, the owners and the way they take care La Burliere. We also love chatting with them even though we don't speak the language. They made our trip so special. We would love to go back again when visiting Provence.

We stayed for only 2 days but could easily have stayed much longer. This is a delightful B& B run by genuinely warm and hospitable hosts. The rooms are beautifully furnished without being stuffy with interesting artifacts and the courtyard and dining room are very inviting places to sit around and enjoy. The location near Gordes is ideal for exploring the best of Provence, we would love to return and spend a few weeks enjoying more of Provence and La Burliere. Word of warning, the google address is wrong it it will send you on a interesting but long journey in the wrong direction. Use the address from the website.

Really loved this place. So quaint and nice people running the place (English woman and French husband). Very picturesque! The dinner on both nights was excellent and much better than driving around trying to find something in the nearby town. I would love to go back in the summer time...October was quiet and nice and relaxing for drives around the area! I would definitely go back, stay for dinner and next time use the pool!

Room Tip: Stay for dinner!
