“Linda and Hugh and Glan Clwyd Isa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

Linda and Hugh gave me a very warm welcome on the last night of my walk on Offa's Dike. Their house is a wonderful combination of family home and comfortable B and B. The rooms were large, light and clean and the beds blissfully comfortable after a tough penultimate day on the Clwydian hills. Hugh's breakfast was great and he catered for my vegetarian needs without flinching. His generosity in running us back from the pub and then into the village the next day was much appreciated. Perhaps the best B and B on Offa's Dike - in my experience!

We arrived at Bodfari village from Prestatyn after completing our first day of walking Offa's Dyke. Although Glan Clwyd Isa is a couple of miles from the village, Hughie promptly arrived in his land rover within 5 minutes of calling him. As soon as we arrived at the farmhouse we were offered a very welcome pot of tea and a choice of chocolate eclair or egg custard. The room was comfortable and we had exclusive use of a very spacious bathroom just along the corridor. Clean fresh towels and shower gel were provided. We had full use of a guest television lounge and were told we could help ourselves to tea or coffee in the adjoining family kitchen.
Another couple of walkers were also staying at Glan Clwyd Isa, Hughie very kindly drove the four of us to the pub in Bodfari where we were spoilt for choice with excellent food. The return taxi to Glan Clwyd Isa was only £4.00. The breakfast was a feast, jointly prepared by Hughie and Lynda. All the ingredients used (eggs, bacon, sausage) are locally sourced and superb quality. Hughie offered to make us filled rolls as a packed lunch, we chose the tuna and sweetcorn and cheese with homemade chutney (these were delicious). Following breakfast Hughie drove us all to Bodfari (no charge) where we could continue our Offa's Dyke challenge. Hughie and Lynda are very welcoming hosts, who provide excellent value for money B&B. I would highly recommend Glan Clwyd Isa to anyone wishing to stay in the Bodfari area.

I booked this accommodation out of the Offa's Dyke B & B booklet with no knowledge as to what to expect. WOW what a place. It was the last night at the end of the path (traveling south to North) and we could not have found a better place (have even planned a return). Lynda and Hughie could not have been more accommodating if they had tried. First we where picked up from where the path met the village, taken to the farm and fed tea and scones. The pub for an evening meal was only a mile away but we where offered a lift to but not back which did not bother us (beautiful walk back which took all off twenty minutes). Rooms where fantastic, clean and very comfortable. The position and surroundings where to die for with views of the Clywdian Mountains right outside the window. Hugh was the chef for breakfast and the freshly picked asparagus with our cooked breakfast was outstanding. We will be returning. Stewart and Sandra Huxley, Llynclys

This is a really friendly, stylish and comfortable bed and breakfast. We couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome at the end of our first, long day's walk on Offa's Dyke. The location is beautiful, the dogs are really friendly, breakfast was good….

After a long day's walk from Llanarmon-yn-lal, it was great to be greeted by Ben (son of the owners) who proceeded to prepare tea & scones to help me recover from an arduous day's walk. He explained that his parents (Linda & Hugh) would be back later. After a shower and change of clothes, Linda offered to drive me to the local pub (Downing Arms - good food/ale) - which was great because it's about 1.25 miles away. I strolled back later; sated and enjoying one of the best evenings of the year to date. In the morning, Hugh cooked the sort of high energy breakfast that I needed to get me through the final day (and the "bonnie banks of Prestatyn") and even have the decency to drop me off at the Dyke Path at 07:30am! Lovely place, great people.

The Offa's Dyke path north of Llandegla is a beautiful but arduous stretch, and the section up to Bodfari a long one with few options for overnight stops. Glan Clywd Isa solved this problem brilliantly for two chaps walking in February. This is because The Crossleys are happy to pick you up from the path by car (say at Moel Arthur or the car park to the North of there), and drop you back at the same point on the path the next morning. A great welcome, comfortable clean rooms, shower and/or bath, blazing fire in the sitting room fire, a delicious three course kitchen dinner, and a huge breakfast made this perfect. Warmly recommended. The perfect overnight stop near Bodfari. Mobile reception just south of Moel Arthur was sufficient to enable telephone contact for the pick up rendezvous. Jeremy P-T

me and my girlfriend visited the coach house 9th of november untill the 16th we had a amazing holiday and would recomend this cottage for anyone. The cottage itself was very well decorated and had lots of space the views from door step were amazing. Also id like to say a special thankyou yo hughie for letting me fish on his stunning fish pond i had so much fun catching lots and lots of rainbow trout and will be back next year to catch the secretive grass carp. Many thanks again for a fantastic holiday.
