We stayed at this hotel or 3 nights in Villefranche and it was very nice stay.
Location, location, location, really close to the port and all restaurants (delicious).
Thank you very much!!!!

True, it's a little shabby in places and has certanly seen better days, but it is charming, and excellent value for money. I have only stayed on the 3rd floor but the views there are breathtaking. It is very peaceful with just the sound of swifts in the evening. It has a small rather overgrown garden, a terrace and for breakfast you sit under the orange trees. It is a short walk to the old town and takes about 10 minutes to get to the beach. It is a steep walk uphill on the way back, although you do get used to it after doing it a few times!

We LOVED this hotel! We are a family of 5 with older teenagers and young adults. I almost didn't book this hotel because of the pictures and descriptions but luckily our other choices were sold out. If you go to their website the room with the view was one of ours. It has been redone with wood floors(maybe Pergo) sand colored walls and white down bedding. The view was the most beautiful I have ever seen. It is true their was some chipping paint on the doors to this view! The room number was 308. My 3 children had this room which has 2 true queens. You could easly fit a rollaway or crib, this room was huge. This room would be ideal for a young family, a girlfriend trip, or a couple who wanted this fantastic view. We paid 134 euros. My husband and I had a room nearby with with 2 twins pushed together and the bedding was a little more dated like the website shows but very clean and 1 window with a view. It was 100 euros. The bath was a handheld shower but a huge bathtub and bathroom, important for bathing young children. Breakfast was 10 euros and standard items but very filling with meats, cheese, hardboiled eggs, coffee, juice, fruit ,yogurt and cereal. They had a beautiful garden setting but plenty of indoor seating as well. There was a bakery 2 minutes away but we found for the convenience it was worth it for us. 2 public parking lots are available also 2 minutes away, free after 6pm and until 8 am and 1 euro an hour otherwise. I am wondering if the city view rooms are inexpensive and not as updated, I don't know if I would be as enthusiastic about those. We found everyone working there to be friendly and accomodating. I don't understand some of these comments. We are lucky enough to have stayed at some of the most beautiful Westins worldwide but they didn't have charm and the authenticity of this hotel.

I stayed in this Hotel for a few days recently and found it ideally situated close to the Old Villefranche Sur Mer and to the transport links from Nice. We travelled by bus No. 98 from the airport to Gare Rouitiere and changed there to No. 100 to Villefranche Sur Mer getting of at the Otroi bus stop. From here the Hotel is a short walking distance to the left . The hotel was clean and well serviced each day. We did not include breakfast in our booking but bought breakfast each morning in the excellent bakery located just around the corner from the Hotel and ate it in the little park opposite which was very enjoyable. The tourist information Office and a Spar is also nearby. The Hotel had a bar and terrace but these did not seem to be used much. Our room was on the corner with two large windows one of which had a part sea view. I expect the higher level rooms may have even better sea views. The room was clean and spacious. The decor was tired and there was no shower ( just a hand held shower )in the bathroom. Overall we found the Hotel to be very good value for money. Our best restaurant experience was at La Grignotiere on Rue du Poilu the food was excellent, well presented ,good value and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is located in the center of Villefranche and is close to good restaurants and the beach. Rooms are a nice size, clean, and well appointed. Internet provided by Orange at fairly high rates. We visited in August (very hot) and tried 3 different rooms but the air conditioning didn't work adequately in any of them. I would recommend the hotel in any but the hottest months.

The style of this hotel could be determined as "forgotten junky". Old building, old rooms, no maintanence.

Hotel is situated at ~50 m above the see level, so you must climb evary time after beach time of walking. Noisy dut to 2 streets crowded with cars.

Room is small, bed size is 140 cm wide (not enough for 2 person, really). Old windows, old paint, old "dark room", old carpet (see photos). Conditioning did not work first 2 days (weekend), then it was not strong enough to cool air above ~28oC even tonight.

Bathroom is large enought, but equipment is just ancient. (photo). There is no curtain, so you sprincle around and after shower there is a lot of water of the floor.

Breakfast is poor (1 kind of meat only), but croissant are very tasty.

Personnel is unfriendly and undprofessional. They did not respond to my e-mail. Receptionist told by "Take you keys by yourself" (withour "please", of course). The roommaid did not put shampoo and soap 2 times, etc. I have such a feeling, that they dream about winter. This hotel is closed from November till April (or May).

I'd NOT recomment this hotel not even to a friend, but to my enemies...

We have just stayed at the Hotel Provencal in Villefranch on June 27-30, 2009.
Me, my husband and our 12 years old girl.
It was a short walk to the beach and all restaurants, so the loacation is just perfect. The sea side room that we had, had a great view over the sea. Just wonderful and very relaxing.
The breakfast was the best we had during our weeks travelling around on the riviera. We sat in the back garden with a lot of flowers and trees around and enjoyed the breakfast every morning. The staff where all very friendly and helpful at any time. We will absolut recomend this hotel and we will return to this hotel everytime we are about to spend again in Villefranche.
