“Romantic, open-air, harborside bar”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

Although we stayed at a private rental on nearby Cap Ferrat, we'd walk the 15 minutes over to the Hotel Welcome most every evening to enjoy beers and delicious, complimentary, rosemary-flavored potato chips at their outdoor bar. While there, we even happened to witness the rising of the recent, full "Super Moon" (when it is closest to the earth)... which made the whole setting just perfect. The wait staff is helpful and smiling... the ambiance fantastic... cool people-watching and yacht-watching... and you couldn't find a better locale for a romantic evening on the French Riviera.

Hotel Welcome is nicely located in Villefranche. Easy walk from the train station.

Room classification to get is the Superior. Other rooms might be a bit small. Room included a balcony that ran the length of the room. View of the waterfront was spectacular.

Bathroom wasn't as clean as we would have liked. Not terrible but not clean.

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast buffet was very good, worth having. Included eggs, bacon, cheeses, bread, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc.

We arrived in Ville Franche sur Mer around 5pm in the afternoon with nowhere to stay. We drove around for a while, checking out the village, then online I found this hotel. We put it in our sat nav, and headed off to find it, and what a find! Perfect location, helpful friendly staff and a room was available for us....
We had a wonderful night's sleep in a very comfortable room with an amazing view. Ville Franche is a delightful place to stay, so pretty, and with some quaint restaurants behind the hotel.
I would most definitely return to this hotel.
And there's free wifi!

Room Tip: Maybe the higher the better, but it seems that all rooms have a great view...we had a corner room wh...

Villefranche is now my favourite place on earth, and the Welcome Hotel is the only place worth considering if you're in the village. We spent two nights here on our honeymoon and could not fault the hotel at all. The staff were attentive, personable and very friendly. There was never an queue at reception - the hotel is small and charming. We had room 22, which was on the second floor (so not as high as other rooms), but my gosh, the views were amazing. The room was modern, clean and lovely. I don't truly believe the website does their rooms justice, frankly! Perhaps time to update their photos? OK, so the breakfast is expensive at 17 euros each, but I wouldn't expect anything less from the nicest village on the Riviera. Just pop to the boulangerie behind the hotel and pick up a croissant, that's what we did. Thank you so much, for a fantastic honeymoon in Villefranche Sur Mer!

This my third visit to the Welcome in this beautiful seaside location. This time as a family with two teens. I am always impressed with the staff here. They just know how to please! Ask for a room facing the harbour like #52. Also when makingbthe reservation ask for a parking res in their garage which fills up. The alternative is $50 a day!
Villefranche sur mer is so interesting. Walk to cap ferret for a great bit of exercise and visit the villa of the Rothschild lady. The gardens are magnificent! Back at the hotel after dinner sit with a digestif and watch the people. Have your special meal at Les Garcon.

Room Tip: Room 52 faces the harbour,

Hotel Welcome is expensive compared to some of the other hotels we looked at but in our experience it was worth paying the extra. It's a lovely place to stay and the staff are very pleasant and friendly. Villefranche is quite hilly for anyone who has mobilty problems but the hotel is at the bottom of the hill on the harbour front where you can watch the fishermen or the cruise ship passengers come and go. VF is an ideal place for visiting all places on Côte d'Azur. The only problem we had was the trains were on strike, however you can get a bus to Nice or Monaco but they were very busy

This hotel really puts theW in WELCOmE. Very nice people, especially the manager. The hotel was very clean, very nice rooms, perfect location . Its right in between the beach-1block and in the middle of cafes and the shops carved into the mountains. The veiw is AMAZING-Cote de Azur=all rooms seem to have a balcony. We were there Bastille Day and had a beautiful fireworks display right from balcony-also right on 1 main road of town so you can see and be seen. The Welcome Bar is just right to enjoy the French Riviera and meet people from France and the entire world.

Room Tip: Make sure to face sea
