Hotel Welcome was wonderful! I stayed there about 10 days and everyone was so nice. I loved the view of the harbor and walked along the beach every day. I hope to get back to the place I call paradise asap!

My wife and I have just returned from a short break at the Welcome which was a fantastic experience. The Hotel has a fantastic location and our room on the 3rd floor had 2 balconies one to the side and one overlooking the sea at the front. The front desk lady receptionist was very friendly and the 2 guys in the "wine pier" at the Hotel were first class and great fun!

Breakfast on the balcony as the sun rose was a highlight as was a bottle of Provence Rose before dinner on the balcony watching the fishing boats and life in general from this great vantage point.

We have stayed in some great Hotels before but this has to be our favourite to date. Can also recommend Michels restaurant on the sqaure which we have eat at before which was very good and good value.

Villefranche is also a great venue and very unspolit compared with other such ideal locations in the Med from our experience.

A friend and I booked the only two single rooms in this hotel after reading a very positive article about it (and Villefrance-sur-Mer) in a London paper last spring. We chose the first available weekend, which was six months later. Unfortunately the weather was not co-operative, the train could not get through, and we ended up paying 40€ to get to H Welcome from the Nice rail station, (I'd guess less than 10 kms distance).

But the hotel itself:
Both our rooms had excellent views of the town and had largish balconies with stools and tables. The bay was beautiful and the hotel room decor was nautically-themed. The lift only went a floor which was one floor below these single rooms.

The hotel is located on the seafront and walking along the street (and area) was easy and pretty. The service was very good - staff knew the local area, answered all our questions, and were cheerful and helpful.

Breakfast, was okay (it wasn't outstanding; I got there towards the end of the serving period and was generally ignored). Breakfast was served in a room on the ground level, with a good view as well. The room became the 'bar' in the evening and again was pleasant to sit in and have a drink and watch the world go by.

The location was very good for walking around town. After the trains were running again, we were able to get into Nice easily for about €2.00 each way. We also took the train to Menton (which looked beyond quiet). We ate at some local restaurants with very good food and service.

We were there after the busy season ended, and the town was very quiet - it is no doubt teeming with people in the busy time - but a pretty town and sadly, we didn't get the benefit of sun and warmth as we'd hoped.

All I can say is, wow! Went to France to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. I found this fabulous hotel through Trip Advisor and I am soooo glad I had faith in all the great reviews. First of all, the town of Villefranche Sur Mer is wonderful. Small, manageable and picturesque. It is perfectly situated between Nice and Monte Carlo. We rented a car so that we could hit all the towns from St, Tropez to the Italien border. Possibly the highlight of a trip that included several nights in Paris, a long weekend in the burgandy wine region, and the French Riviera had to have been the time my wife and I spent just sitting on our balcony at Hotel Welcome and watching the boats come in. Talk about relaxing!! We even decided one night to eschew dinner out, instead opting to get some meats, cheeses and breat (and, of course, wine) and enjoying them on the balcony of our hotel watching the sun set and watching all the people and boats.

I really can't say enough of how wonderful this place was. The room was very clean and functional (we loved keeping the windows open for the cross-breeze and listening to the water noises).

By all means, book your stay at Hotel Welcome. You certainly will not be disappointed.

This is a wonderful hotel, right on the harbor. We took the advice of others and requested an upper floor and were so pleased with the amazing view. The room was small, but lovely. We received top notch service from the very kind young woman at the front desk who came to help us when our car nearly got stuck in a very, very narrow side street. With her help, we folded in our side mirrors and were directed to a road more suited to American drivers. This is a great base for exploring the Riviera.

Spent two nights here in late October before attending the fabulous Institut Français. Be sure to book a room facing the bay - even the views from the first floor are great. Room was very spacious and the bath luxurious. Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly - especially if you speak a little French. Remember you're in France where a "bon jour" to start a conversation goes a long way.

Breakfast was very good, though a bit pricey. Not bad considering you're in a very good hotel right on the waterfront. Drinks in the bar in the evening are also fairly expensive, but they bring you several types of snacks on a big platter.

We're planning to go back to the Institut next year, and will definitely book here again for the few days before we can check into an apartment.

There's a computer in the lobby to check your email. If you want to hook up your computer, be sure to ask for a kit at the desk that lets you plug into their network. I asked about WiFi, but they said with all the internet cafes behind the hotel, they haven't figured out how to set up a clean WiFi that doesn't get too much interference.

This place has an incredible location - right on the harbor - all the rooms have great little terraces you can sit on and have breakfast or read and relax. That said for the price - its a bit run down - nothing terrible just not great. Everything in this part of France is expensive so not sure you can do any better - just don't be expecting the Ritz.
