“Highs and lows”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

We ate here twice. The first time I had a really well presented and tasty carpaccio - one of the best I've had.Service a bit sketchy but the friendly waitress redeemed things a little.
The second time we chose one of the suggestions du jour which was a selection of goodies from the local area.We also chose the fish selection/tapas from the carte. We recieved a really cheap selection akin to what would constitute a 'party food selection' at Iceland (UK frozen food store).Complete rubbish.Indifferent service. Have to carpaccio - avoid 'selections'.

“So disappointing”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

We've been to this restaurant a few times over the last 5 years and always thought highly of it. On the last night of this trip we decided to treat ourselves. The location as always is lovely but the food was terrible. The salmon was lightly cooked and cold inside and the steak that I asked for medium rare was cooked right through. I asked if the waitress thought it was medium rare and she responded by saying that is medium rare in France.. at the end of the meal we were asked if it was ok and got the briefest 'sorry' with complete indifference. We suspected it wasn't unusual to get complaints and then I had a look at the reviews on here. A shame but we will avoid this restaurant in the future. Poor food and service.

“Good for lunchtime drink, great for dinner”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

During a week in Nice, we took a daytrip to Villefranche.

Les Corsaires is right on the seafront, with sun umbrellas to shield from the midday sun. The day we were there, it was windy - some unexpected entertainment as umbrellas took to flight - so sit inside if it's windy and you're not minded to keep foot on your umbrella base.

For a drink, you do pay a premium for sitting here, but to sit and read a book in this stunning location with a beer and eau-gazeuse is a treat, and more comfortable than perching on a wall.
(France seems less keen than UK on public seating, where you can sit and admire the view.)

After a walk around he coast, to see the port - recommended - we returned for dinner. I had pork ribs - generous helping, could just have been a bit hotter - so ask if you like your food really hot. My wife had a steak - it was very good, medium-well done as ordered.

The real treat was the 'a bit of everything' dessert, which we shared. Try this for a treat.

From a good range of restaurants in Villefranche sur Mer, we can certainly recommend Les Corsaires as at July 2012.

“Spectacular View”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

Like others have said, the location is perfect, right on the main street by the water and inside atomosphere is quite nice as well.

We ordered white wine, salad, mussels, and rib dish. The price was reasonable (considering the killer location!), the portion was good (they give you lots of mussels and ribs with tons of fries).

I was very impressed when they brought the most beautiful Caprese salad I've ever seen!
Now that's art. Oh so French. We felt guily eating it but were so happy as it tasted really good with generous portion of fresh mozzarella and tomato piled up like a tower, arugula salad with vinaigrette, roasted egglant, pesto, and finely sliced raw ham was draping over from top of tomato/mozzarella tower...what more do you want?

Servers were all polite and efficient.
