La Caravelle is one of several restaurants on the steep steps of the pretty town of Villefranche-sur-mer. Choose the right table and you get an excellent view both up the hill and down to the port. We chose the reasonably-priced 3-course "menu" that started with a massive crab salad. The chicken with mushroom sauce was delicious and served with extremely good chips (not fries, proper chips!). After two huge courses, we opted for ice cream, and were delighted to find they had coffee-flavour (not always easy to find). Service was good but became a bit haphazard once they got busy and they seemed understaffed. A fun experience with good, basic food in large portions.
