“Wonderful Restaurant”

This restaurant is a wonderful small restaurant. The food is fantastic and unique, the ambience is comfortable and fun and the two people that run it are very friendly.

“Better than most here in Villefranche”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

Dining at Aparte is like being invited into the home of someone who watches a lot of cooking shows: better than what one can usually whip up at home but not fine dining.

But for the prices they charge one can't expect the kind of dishes that it would take a squad of highly-trained chefs to prepare.

My duck was very nice and properly cooked but I had to scrape off the carmel popcorn on top, which I found mostly gimicky.

My snails in the appetizer were not overcooked and the sauce was very mushroomy but it was too rich, I felt, to be paired with the duck. I won't order an appetizer next time.

Service was pleasant and efficient and the atmosphere warm and welcoming.

Also, I think Aparte must make their own bread since none of the 3 boulangeries in this town can produce a single good baguette between them.

“Had hoped for much better/ Attendions bcp plus”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

Have planned to eat here a number of times, but when its summer or warm weather we like to be outside and the location and ambiance of this place feel like a cold weather resto. Last Thursday after drinks on the plaza we tried L'Aparté which has the top rank in our town of Villefranche.

Cute little place, and we found the service to be good, not overly friendly, but appropriate and attentive. The menu looked fab and the food was very nicely presented. The goat cheese eggrolls, with passion fruit puree was good though the texture a bit lacking. Liked the side salad with a vanilla balsamic dressing which was quite nice. My wife had another entrée for her main course which was good - St. Jacques. I was quite disappointed with my magret (much more cooked than rosey pink, and not tender). Did like the side layered mouse (purée). My wife had the trio of crème brulée which looked real nice in presentation, served aflame, but only the Pistachio flavored one was a hit with us. The best aspect to the meal was the Côte de Rhone that we ordered.

Though disappointed by our meal I imagine we will try again at some point as we like to support our local businesses and one less than grand meal does not cement a reputation.

“Nice historic venue for a wonderful meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013

Very nice place to eat in a very old part of VilleFranche. We sat in a covered alley way dating from centuries back. We were first ones to arrive and felt like we might be the only ones but by the end of the meal, the place was bustling. Had a wonderful meal with very good service except that the crowd got much larger very fast and service slowed down. All understandable and well managed by very hard working waitress, who took the time to help us non-French speaking guests with the menu. No, it was not on the waterfront but you did not get ripped off by high prices either .

“Couldn't Believe the Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

This is a very difficult place to find--or at least we thought so! We are foodies, this could have been the most well balanced meal we have ever had. The appetizer was goat cheese eggrolls with a square of pear and a drop of balsamic finished with a passion fruit puree and a small salad with cocoa balsamic. For dinner we had duck breast and rack of lamb. Each was served with a small potato, zucchini and a puree of peas, celery root and carrots. It was like a vegetable parfait! Dessert was a tiramisu "toberlone". All of this plus a bottle of wine was 116E. This was a great value and well worth looking for...there is no doubt as to why this is rated number on Trip Advisor. Wish we could have eaten here many more times...
