“Romanic Getaway in the Hills Above Nice”
Reviewed November 10, 2011

This little hotel is a nugget in the rough, not to say that the area is rough - far from it, its in the middle of a series of perched villages like St. Paul de Vence, Tourette Sur Loup and Gordon.
The Hotel is just a short walk to the old walled city center of Vence which contains countless restaurants with many choices of cuisine and of course all serve the French wines of the region. A light breakfast is served in the dining area overlooking the gardens and Koi pond. In the evening before going out to dinner stop by the quite little bar area for a glass of wine or cocktail. There is protected parking available in the basement for those arriving by car. The staff was exceptional and made every effort to provide for our needs. As a diabetic they even helped by providing proper food and condiments for our meals.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side have a partial view of the Med. and overlook the garden, much quiter then the...

I was pleased to bring a group here once again. Yes, a bit of French helps, however English is available from most of the staff. When visiting a country it is only polite to learn at least the commonsense polite language of that country.
We had a wonderful stay, Breakfast was good as was the coffee ( I watched them brew it) and the rooftop was a great place to rest. The temperature of the hot tub needed increasing as we did call it a cool tub!
Still, I recommend this hotel to travellers to this wonderful town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room ovelooking the back garden.

We stayed for 3 nights with my wife in room nbr 50 with a kitchenette & a SW-side balcony on top floor. The furniture was a bit worn-out but otherwise the room was clean and spacious enough for a short stay. Kitchenette was quite poorly equipped but didn't complain about it since we paid for this extra feature (15 € p/d) mainly to have a fridge & ice to cool the beverages & fruits. Balcony was ok but without any special view due to high buildings in front and nearby. As we didn't use the aircondition machine individual for this room we cannot tell its capacity on real warm season. The roof was still open but no spa or jacuzzi in use maybe due to late season. The buffet-breakfast followed the normal french standard in quality but the rate (12€ p/p) comparing particularly to a normal lunch was clearly overpriced but seemed however to be on very common level, too.

Due to good location near to center with some excellent restaurants, a private garage in the basement, good road and public transport connections, not to forget also quite reasonable roomrate as a ***-ranked hotel we can recommend Diana for a shorter stay and probably will choose this one next time, too.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel with a small tour group for three nights while visiting Vence and the surrounding small towns. The staff are genuinely helpful and welcoming and made our stay very pleasant. Rooms are comfortable and clean with beautiful large balconies looking over the garden and patio at the rear of the hotel. There is a wonderful roof-top patio with impressive views of the surrounding countryside. The town centre with its shops and restaurants is in easy walking distance. Breakfast can be eaten either indoors or in the gardens at the rear of the hotel and is very adequate. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Diana hotel was much better than I expected. This hotel seemed to be run by family. All staffs were very kind and give warm welcome to their guest. Breakfast was good, especially bread was so tasty. Room was clean to look like recently being renovated. Only WORST one is house keeping, NO bed & pillow SHEET CHANGE was made for TWO WEEKS. Sometimes trash was there as the day before. But my overall evaluation for this hotel is very good, but not to recommend for long stay.

Both my wife and myself stayed at the Hotel Diana for eight nights. We found the staff very friendly and helpfull. The room and bathroom were very clean. The room had a balcony with sun blind, chairs and table. The bed was six feet wide and comfortable. There was a lift to/from reception and arrived within seconds of pressing the button. Up on the roof there is sunbathing deck chairs with a wonderful view of the hills.

Although we only dined for breakfast once, the food was very good. The hotel is well placed for visiting all parts of Vence town.

If leaving very early in the morning, it is advisable to inform the hotel. Our flight plans changed during the night and we had to leave before 6.00 am. and found the reception closed together with the doors. We managed to unlock the main door and departed. Our problem not the hortels.

Quick summary: this is a charming hotel in a good location for visiting Vence and touring the area.

This hotel is in a modern buidling that shares a large flower- and culpture-filled garden courtyard with other buildings. Secure parking is in a closed garage directly underground. The location is a short walk to the old walled city, with many restaurants and shops in the area.

Room #16 (Matisse) is a spacious, colorful room that overlooks the back garden. The king bed has a quilt and sheets, a very welcome alternative to the duvets that some hotels have adopted and are always too warm. The provencal decors has melon-colored walls, white and red touches throughout, colorful Matisse prints on the walls, and well-done artificial flower arrangements. Good closet space and a large chest of drawers that can lock. Many chairs and a table in the room. Free wifi, flat sreen TV, robes, but no in-room safe (can leave valuables at the desk.)

The room is pretty quiet as it faces the garden, but the street-front rooms may also be okay. While there is some street traffic, it does not seem too bothersome.

Very clean bathroom with tub/shower. Excellent housekeeping throughout.

Breakfast is very good with the usual continental-plus buffet of bakery and breads, fruits and juices, meat and cheeses, cereal, etc. You can have this at an outdoor patio table or indoors, which is actually an open-air area in teh building in nice weather.

The staff are very charming, helpful, and professional. Follow their recommendations for good restaurants and touring. They seem very concerned that you enjoy your stay in Vence and touring the area, and the lobby has lots of brochures.

We enjoyed touring Vence, and also used it as a base for touring the area. I know there are nice hotels in St.-Paul-de-Vence, but we enjoyed staying in this lower-key town with much history and less dominated by tourists during the day.

'Strongly recommend the Italian restaurant down the street, and Agapes in the walled old town.

To sum up: we'd be happy to stay here again.
