We began staying here in 1988, I believe. And we knew from the minute we entered the door that this was just what we wanted. The staff was perfect but not obtuse. Things were done but quietly. It is like going to a friends estate for a week. There's no commotion at the pool just peace and quiet so that a swim is in order after which you can put your head in a book or take a lovely nap.
The guest are friendly and we've made good friends whom we still see and keep in touch with. Meals are quite good, simple but elegant if you would like. The junior suites or suites are most attractive. I'm always suggesting this to only good friends. We hope to be back in a years time to celebrate our anniversary once again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with an excellent view - you can see for miles of coast - and a junior suite is what y...

My wife and I spent a wonderful weekend at this magical hotel overlooking Vence, with the Mediterranean sea in the distance. The service is superb, you are treated by your name by all employees, the restaurant is quite good, etc. Stay in a Junior Suite and take advantage of the view in a very large room.

Service is top notch, rooms are generous size and renovated to provide a true 5 star experience. We had a Jr Suite that had an excellend balcony that looked out over the hills towards the Med. Can't really fault this place for anything. The pool staff is excellent, but I did not use the spa.

Magical experience at Chateau Saint-Martin. We went there for a champagne sunset experience and ended up staying for a 3 course dinner. Views are absolutely amazing and the service is superb. What makes this hotel special is the secluded location, the drive up the mountain provide stunning views of the French Riviera, and upon arrival at this hotel it gets even better. Can't wait to go back.

Gorgeous location - beautiful views - lovely accommodations. We did have a problem with the shower backing up that was not handled in a timely way. That probably does not happen often. You also need to stay at the resort in the evening because it is hard to navigate the mountain roads after dark.

There is little to say about this hotel which is not complementary. We stayed here as part of an autumn break and it proved a great success. We arrived in the dark and it did take a little bit of finding, however as we pulled up outside the hotel the receptionist arrived, our car was whisked away and we were shown to a beautiful room.
I was lucky to get a good rate via booking.com and the room was a good class of junior suite. We had a balcony with glorious views over Vence and the surrounding countryside. The bathroom was huge and very well equipped with the sort of towels and dressing gowns you hope to find. Everything had a quality feel to it. This was matched by service, all the staff were pleasant and very professional.

The gym was great. Step machines, walkers and a very good quality bike. The room had water and towels and was open all the time. We did not use the pool so I can't comment on the pool area. There is a large terrace area outside the lounge area of the hotel which I could imagine being very well used in the summer.

This is not the sort of hotel where you get tea and coffee making facilities in your room, and eating and drinking here are not cheap. There are two restaurants. The formal one we did not go to as it was not really what we were looking for. You are talking hundreds of euros for a tasting menu and we were pacing our food intake for the week. I am sure the food would have been glorious but we settled for the more casual restaurant which still had prices which could be felt to be on the high side. When you get a pizza well north of 20 euros and a tomato and burrata salad at 28 euros you know you are in an expensive place. The food was of a high quality and served by well trained staff and we ate here more than once. You could see into the kitchen for this restaurant which is always reassuring.

The hotel is in a good place for touring the area if you have a car. I would not advise you to stay here without one. It is a bit of a drag back to the coast if that is where you want to be but we did see a lot of the surrounding area which has some very beautiful scenery. St Paul de Vence is a tourist destination which is worth a look situated high on a hill top and bursting with galleries. The town of Tourettes de Loup is also not far away and is worth a visit with its medieval streets.

In summary, this is a truly lovely hotel and I would recommend it for anyone who wanted a special holiday.

We only stayed for one night. We had booked on the internet at a significant discount from the advertised rate and so were pleasantly surprised to find on arrival that we had been upgraded to a traditional junior suite. This was very spacious, very comfortable, well equipped and had a huge bathroom with separate shower room and toilet/bidet room. There was a large terrace with sun loungers and a table and chairs which we were unable to use because the weather was bad. The room had a superb view over St Paul de Vence to the sea. We both used the sauna and steam room and had massages. Dinner in the gourmet restaurant was really very good. The "Mystery of the Egg" starter was amazing. The hotel grounds were delightful. Service was impeccable. We have stayed at some really great hotels around the world and we both think that this may be the best we have visited. Our bill was about €1,000 all in.
