Was recommended this hotel by a friend, as an alternative to the coastal hotels, this is a small luxury hotel well worthy of its 5 star rating, large country house style, slightly out of Vence town in a prominent position overlooking it- booked the larger Superior Junior Suite for 4 nights- firstly lovely room with panoramic views of coastline, very large and well furnished/appointed.We found staff to be most helpfull especially the Concierges, breakfast small selection but of high quality, attended the restaurants 4 times, go for the 2 star Gourmet restaurant it's worth the extra over the standard and the fixed menu is fantastic, cheese board the best I've had, worthy of 3 star Michelin standard. The grounds of the hotel are very well maintained and extremely large, lovely pool area.
Overall definitely worth the stay and will return, highly recommended.

Room Tip: go for the larger rooms , very large and relaxing

This is my first negative post on TA ever: The landscaping is pretty, but not worth the disrespectful service and obnoxious staff we repeatedly encountered. I felt like my husband and I spent 75% of the trip exclaiming to each other how we couldn't get over the sheer rudeness of some of the people who work at the Chateau. After staying at the sister property in Paris, The Bristol, which was fabulous, we had high hopes for our stay in the south of France. From the moment we checked in, we felt taken for a ride, paying $1,000 a night and being treated like trash. First, they gave us a paper to sign that quoted an extra 100 euros a night for our stay. My husband politely mentioned that we prepaid, and the rate was lower. Unapologetic, the desk clerk insisted he was correct, until I pulled out our confirmation from my luggage and in fact my husband was right. Then, I asked the concierge to make dinner reservations in a nearby village - he flat out refused and said they are booked. I said, if you don't mind, we are here from NY for five days, please try (that is his job, isn't it, to get his guests into sought after restaurants?). He said no again and hung up. When I entered the lobby to go to the pool, every staff person looked away, with coldness....We are a young American couple... did I mention on our honeymoon? Not sure why we weren't entitled to a hello, or good morning. Pool service is terrible, 25 euro for a tiny bowl of watermelon....we prepaid for two meals, I asked a server how the plan works. She told me don't worry, everything is included...at the end of our stay we found out we were charged 30 euro PER GLASS OF WINE AT DINNER..what a nightmare...if you live in NY stay in your backyard, at least there you can get a glass of water without feeling like a criminal.

We had a lovely mid-week break at the St. Martin late in September. Very well appointed suites, excellent bathrooms, complete silence at night. The service throughout the Hotel is in turns effortless, professional charming and discreet. Yannick Franques is resident chef, and his kitchen provided a memorable meal one evening, traditional at heart but with a nod to modern techniques and some extremely clever and original touches. We loved the Mystery of the egg, and the lobster and pigeon dishes were exquisite. We had the signature menu (the Egg must have been an amuse bouche I think - make sure you get one either way), and left the wine choices to the restaurant. This always make me anxious, but on this occasion, I need not have been worried. You know they can't give you the very top wines from the list within the fixed price, but the choices included a very good Montlouis, an excellent 2002 Premier Cru Mersault, and a delicious local Carignan Vieilles Vignes. I thought it was exceptional. We didn't use the spa, but the attractive pool area set in well kept gardens is tranquil and comfortable. Breakfast on the sunny terrace with a panoramic view down to the Riveria was the perfect way to start each day. The price? Well the price is as you must expect it; if you have to ask............

Beautiful situation for a tranquile vacation. magnificent villa surrounded by beautiful gardens in the hills above Nice. Tranquille and peaceful. Beautiful rooms with lovely views over bias des anges.
Very helpful staff. Good food especially great selection of cheeses!
We tried the spa... Excellent if expensive.
Lovely pool in a quiet area with good poolside service.
Close to several lovely towns by taxi or car.
Expensive but worth it.
Would go again.

They don't muck about here. Its a gorgeous property in a startling location with a 25km vista all the way down to the sea. The staff are exceptionally professional and the rooms are very nice. Its a real pleasure to stay here. My only gripe would be the prices in the restaurant. Perhaps I've been spoilt in London, but there are restaurants there which serve better French food for perhaps half the price - Chez Bruce springs to mind as a credible example. I could understand it if they were producing dishes at the very top end of what is possible but it wasn't quite there, at least not during my stay. The cheapest thing on room service was 'Lettuce' - €17! However I don't want to detract from the beauty of the property or the really rather impressive staff. I'd love to stay again.

We stayed here a few days ago and loved every minute. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which turned out to be an enormous room with a beautiful view over the valley to the hills beyond and a huge bed in which we slept very well. The Saint-Martin Restaurant was spectacularly good. It is very expensive, so we had the €89 Senteurs et Saveurs set menu, but we felt it was worth every last cent and will remember the first course (the curiously named Mystery of the Egg) for ever! The grounds are beautifully maintaned and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly at all times. We'd recommend this hotel unreservedly if you have the budget.

We have just returned from an 8 day sojourn at Chateau Saint-Martin. The resort exudes a peaceful serenity with an understated elegance. The Chateau has a "dual personality"--if you look one way, you feel like you are in Provence, and the other way the Côte d'Azur with Mediterrean views in the distance. Extremely restful, and relaxing. They have a 2 star Michelin gastronomic restaurant that is superb, and a casual Italian restaurant where a great buffet breakfast is served. Service throughout the resort is unparalleled--lead by a phenomenal concierge team that includes Clément Hernandez (holder of the golden keys), and Jean-Philippe (who worked at the Ritz Carlton in Wash. DC), as well as Alexandre Stoeckel (who attended college in New York City). We cannot emphasize how SPECIAL and EXTRAORDINARY this Relais and Chateau
property is! We will definitely be returning in the near future!!

Room Tip: Deluxe junior suites are a wow. Six piece, pink marble baths, and private terraces with sea views.
