This is a great gastronomic experience with truly quality French classic cuisine and superb wines. Be careful when selecting the wines as the cellar has some fine (expensive!) offerings as well as really excellent good value house wines. I live in Opio and know the place well ...and I can say that neither I nor friends have ever had a less than excellent meal.

The restaurant is small and intimate with few tables ...a great place to go as a couple but you could go with friends. I would most certainly reserve in advance.

The restaurant offers no views but the ambience is warm and cosy with Provencal rock walls. If you choose the menu carefully and the wine you will not break the bank ..however otherwise be careful!

My wife and I had lunch here a few weeks ago, and we were delighted with the superb quality of the cuisine. The 3 course table d'hote (plus amuse bouche) was €29 per person; with a good bottle of wine and 2 bottles of water, the bill was over €100, but the value was undoubted, as we received a stunning meal, served with charm and friendlieness by the chef's wife. The main courses were delicous, but the starters and deserts were both sensational, in terms of design, presentation and flavours, so we left feeling that we had enjoyed a Michelin quality meal at a fair price for the exceptional quality. We enjoyed a chat after lunch with the chef (the local cookery school is lucky to have him as an instructor) who was as friendly as his wife, and we will certainly return whenever we are in the area, It will not surprise us if, by then, this restaurant will have a Michelin star; the patrons, the premises and - especially, the quality of the food preparation and presentation certainly justify one. [Thanks to previous reviewers for drawing out attention to this jewel, which we would otherwise have been most unlikely to have discovered]

For a memorable fine dining experience may we suggest Lou Cigalon! This is a small restaurant, tucked off the main road in the Cote d'azur village called Valbonne. My husbnd had eaten here for business and always raved about the great cuisine. Due to limited number of tables the restaurant is often full, so book well in advance to avoid disappointment. We managed to get a prime window table due to the fact that it was raining and many people were "hiding" at home during the peak summer months. In fact, dining for lunch is our big secret tip as a set menu for 29 euros is a great way to experience this gourmet cuisine if you are on a budget. There is of course an a la carte menu if you prefer to tempt your taste buds and wallet further! Each plate is served like a piece of art. The chef blends delicate ingredients and provide suggested flavourings for you to try out around the plate. The chef takes great pride in his cooking and you can also meet and discuss the dishes if you desire (we did and it was fun). The lady serving the dishes was equally part of the performance. She delivers each plate with such reverence and whispers the key ingredients and points out the subtle flavourings and if you are interested, will tell you where they were bought. There is plenty of yummy bread and despite the dishes appearing small - after the 5 courses (amuse bouche 3 plates and petits fours) you are totally full! Another tip - if you don't want to drink too much, you can buy a bottle - drink one or two glasses and the restaurant will packed up the bottle for you to take home. We loved the Chateau Reve - a full body red that worked well with our meal selection. If you are seeking a romantic dinner - look no further - I highly recommend this restaurant for the equally high quality and innovative dishes you will receive.

What a wonderful evening. My husband and I went for dinner last night and struggled to make a decision from the menu as there were too many delicious options. We were pleasantly surprised how flexible the menu was and settled for 3 courses. While we waited for our starters we were presented with a selection of cheeky amuse bouches ;a courgette shot, a foie gras mousse and a ceviche of sardines. We choose the poached egg with truffle and pea, and the squid to start , a marriage of cod and salmon with risotto for main and noisette crepe and a chocolate and mango creation to finish. This was followed by petit fours again compliments of the house.
The chef is passionate about his food and the taste combinations were inspired, indeed the food was michelin style in both taste and presentation. The service is attentive and friendly and the bill was excellent value for money for the standard of food and service.
We were delighted with our find and will definitely be back . Thank you..

We returned 4 days ago and took some friends over from the States...did they like Lou Cigalon?
They LOVED IT! Did they enjoy the food? Extremely! Were the plates scraped empty...every one.

In a nutshell this restaurant is a gem,the owners are wonderful and warm people who take pride in what they do and the chef knowsexactly what he is doing with each and every dish.
Grown up playtime for all foodies out there who enjoy different tastes and combinations.

We shall return!
