Mas des Kardouons
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Two adults sharing a room end of April 2013. Most helpful hosts you can hope for. Going the extra mile which standard B&B will not do for you. We hope to have the opportunity to come back. Raymond is an ex hotel manager, so he knows how any small help is important to travelers. Madelaine is very nice and my wife was able to chat as much as needed...

Originally we had the intention of staying in Vence (or St. Paul) but some reviews (thanks to some TA members) suggested better staying in Tourrettes rather than Vence areas and it was a really good idea....

Is tricky to arrive there, check well the address, print or save it... once arriving Tourrettes either from Vence or from Grasse, you'll notice Tourrettes square which is the town main parking lot, in front there is a water trough, this b&b is located exactly the upper part behind this water trough...

The house is located in a narrow street, there is no garage so the car must be parked in this narrow street blocking others if there are other guests... inside is a nice house, well cared and beautiful garden, nice and clean inviting pool, beautiful rooms with vintage furniture (a bit dated), nice upper and ground level terraces where to sit to relax or read a book... We had a welcome drink offered by the host (wow!) with olives and chips...

The breakfast consisted of croissants, baguettes, butter, fruits, cereals, homemade marmalades (was delicious the fresh fig marmalade), coffee, tea, chocolate for kids and an egg whatever desired: fried, scrumbled, soft-boiled...

This b&b location served perfect as base for our day-trips to Pont du Loup, Grasse and Vence surroundings and Côte d’Azur if wanted. Of course Tourrettes was just walking distance foothill well deserved a visit!

The hosts Mr. & Mrs. Noble ensured us a fantastic stay, giving us all kinds of information, the only little issue was the parking but to make it easier just leave the car-keys, so they can move the car in case other guests need to drive out etc.

On our next destination I had an issue with the accomodation and wished to be back at Mas des Kardouons!!!

When our family left for Italy, after spending a week in Mas des Kardouons in Tourettes sur Loup, our girls (aged 10 and 14 ) didn't want to leave! This was our second visit here, and like the first time (two years before) we had a wonderful time in this place. Raymond and Madelen are the most kind and helpful hosts, and the place itself is so nice and peaceful. We stayed in the ground floor apartment, the Violettes apartment, which offers two separate bedrooms, a small kitchenette and bathroom. Right outside the apartment we had our own table where Raymond served us delicious breakfast every morning, and there is a nice garden with a small pool and also an outdoor kitchen where you can prepare your own meals if you want. The village itself is only a two minutes walk away, and Tourettes sur Loup is in a good position for exploring the area around. After visiting the more busy and touristic places like Nice and Cannes, we were more than happy to return to the Mas des Kardouons in the evening! As I said, the girls didn't want to leave; so I think we might return for the third time another summer!

With the welcoming "Bienvenue Madame et Monsieur" and the sharing of a bottle of fine vin rosé de Provence with Madeleine and Raymond, we began a tranquil and idyllic week in the mountains, high above hectic Nice and the coastal region of Provence. Our suite in Mas des Kardouons comprised an entrance hall, living room, bedroom and shower room, all impeccably clean and well-appointed with tasteful, comfortable furnishings. The living room and bedroom opened out onto a large second-storey terrace with patio furniture and views over a lovely garden to the sea and coastline all the way out to Cap d'Antibe. Each day, after a sumptuous breakfast prepared to order by Raymond, we motored out on short day trips to neighboring villages of Vence and St Paul and to Monaco and St Juan des Pins. In the evenings we were directed to one of the several very fine local restaurants in Tourrettes. Our only regret is that, all though the days were sunny and warm, being early June the water temperature of the beautiful swimming pool had not reached a comfortable level. On the other hand, there wasn't uncomfortable heat and the need to cool off.

Room Tip: Bougainvillea was the perfect room for us

The hospitality of Raymond and Madeleine is simply perfect.
From the moment we corresponded with Raymond for booking, we felt his warmth and kindness.
We came two families and stayed at the two nice suites for two nights.
The place is really beautiful, with great view, comfortable, and located in a perfect place in a very lovely and quiet town.
The hospitality was extraordinary: from the moment we arrived Raymond and Madeleine made us feel at home, their hospitality was great, they provided us many good advices regarding our trip: restaurants, tour in the village, market, shopping and also recommendations for the next days.
These were two perfect days in our trip.
We recommend this place with all our heart.

From the moment I sent an enquiry email to Raymond and Madeleine Noble I knew I had made the right choice. Warm and friendly from the off, even to organising my travel to and from Antibes, my mother and I having travelled from London by train, and to be met by Monsieur Noble at the station was wonderful.

The accomodation has everything you could possibly need and is beautifully furnished. The weather was cold but the rooms were warm. The bathroom had a lovely power shower. The views from our suite were fantastic. Raymond and Madeline could not do enough to help us. Lots of information on the Violet Festival and places to visit.

First class breakfast, first class service and first class accomodation.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Between sea and mountain, 14 kilometres from beaches, is a place, Tourrettes-sur-Loup, where, a century ago, violets chose to grow. Still today the cultivation of this delicate flower constitutes one of the main activities and the extent of production earned the village its title "City of Violets." A fortified site in the 11th century, with houses forming ramparts, Tourrettes possesses an original architectural richness linked around a half-moon central route. Appreciated by film producers from 1925, Tourrettes became a meeting place for musicians, painters, writers and poets, and saw a creation revival in the fifties. Artisan weavers settled there and, in their impetus, attracted other disciplines of quality. Today, more than thirty workshops and galleries make it a place of high standing for arts and crafts on the French Riviera. ... more   less
