Owner description: For over 400 years, the Citadel rings the city. Element of the defence of the port the most important between Antibes and Toulon for centuries, it is now one of the few monuments of this magnitude of the Var coast. Proud of its rich maritime past, Saint-Tropez has decided to create a modern museum in the dungeon of the town's citadel, allowing all visitors to discover the daily lives of men and women who shaped over the centuries the Saint-Tropez of today.

“Worth to walk on this place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

Located over the village. It is in a short distance. The view from this place is realy nice. In case the castle is closed, you can walk all arround the hill ( recomented ), and see the beach in the back side of the hill. Try to be there on sunset.
You will take magnificent fotos with or without you.

“Week-end nel Golfo di Saint-Tropez”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013

Fortunately we were able to visit the cidadel as it happened to be open during work in progress and we were able to admire the magnificent view and take photographs on the wonderful sunny day. At present the citadel is closed officially until the end of June 2013 due to restoration works.

“An Interesting Piece of French History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

This place was undergoing some restoration when we visited, so the entry fee had been halved, because certain areas could not be accessed. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our walk around the ancient walled building, giving views of the town and the sea. There information plaques in English as well as French, so we were able to understand the history. It was a peaceful visit, with few other visitors. And, for those concerned at the French lack of public toilets, there were loos available.
