We had a short stay to check out St Tropez for the first time, just to see if Paris Hilton got it right! l think that it is one of the hottest night time venues on the entire planet and regular folk can enjoy the place as much as celebrity types. Price of admission to the Hotel is high, but so is the service and amenities on offer. If you can't afford the hotel still go to their nightclub! SOOOOOO much fun!

Room Tip: if you need something they haven't thought of just ask!

A true 5 star. Byblos is a beautiful hotel at a very nice location (5 min walking from the main attractions and restaurants) with impeccable service & very helpful concierge. You can have great breakfast at a patio overlooking the big swimming pool. Nice live music at the bar in the evening. Very good toiletries in the bathroom. I really can´t think of anything negative about this wonderful hotel except the price, but it was worth every penny.

Having read the reviews and the hotel's web site, I thought this would be somewhere really special, but it is, in fact, a very unremarkable place. It lives off a reputation from many years ago when there were fewer options in St Tropez and the town was a little more chic than it is today. The Byblos is slightly away from the hubbub of the very busy port area but at night many of the rooms suffer from the noise of its very popular night club, Les Caves du Roy. The rooms are very small but still very expensive for what they are - particularly if you get an unmodernised one as we did. The suites are a bit bigger, but still a total waste of money. The photos don't bear much relation to the reality. The staff around the pool area are very charming but elsewhere they don't seem to care unless they think you might be 'important'. The 'Spoon' restaurant is a rather urban 'concept' restaurant, like the hotel trying to be trendier than it really is. One reviewer mentions watching the sunset over the sea from Spoon, but you can't! As with the hotel, there are plenty of significantly better and cheaper options within a very short radius unless you really are determined to be a fashion victim.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a modernised room with a good view

I have no words to describe Saint Tropez or the Byblos Hotel. They are one of the best spots to visit. From the moment I arrived with my wife and 2 years old daugther at Byblos we received the best treatment. The staff from Byblos has always a smile on the face. Considering the hotel itself, I have no doubt it´s the best choise in St. Tropez. The place is gorgeous, the pool deck is very nice and our jr suite (#378) very beautiful. I have not even a small fault to infom, and I´m a very demanding person. I liked so much Byblos that Plaza Athenee in Paris, where we´ve stayed after Byblos lost a little its glamour.

The Byblos hotel in St. Tropez is stuck in the 80's, and i don't mean that in a good way. The Deluxe room we had was spacious, but the design did not age well at all. The room had no wow factor, looked tired and gave no experiance of a five star hotel in one of the most glamorous spots on the French riviera.

The pool area is no different. Everything looks tired. We joked with another couple we met at breakfast who said that the pool looks like an airport Travelodge's. It has nothing to do with the stylish town it's in and is definitely doesn't stand as a 5 star deluxe hotel in 2011.

Two things that saved Byblos from being a total disappointment were the really excellent staff who are polite, attentive and treat you in a very welcoming way. the second is the SPA which is very pretty and the double massage room that we took treatments in was very beautiful, relaxing and special.

The Byblos charges top dollars, and really doesn't deliver a top experience. The only true feeling you are left with is that you have just payed up-to-date 5 star price to a has been hotel.

Simply put: the Hotel Byblos in Saint Tropez is my favorite hotel in the world.

There are many reasons to stay at Byblos: the charming Provencal-village of adjoining houses that surround the beautiful courtyard and pool; the fact that each room is unique and different; the great dining options of Spoon and Le B; the incredible location right in town near the Place des Lices; the access to the fantastic Les Caves; and of course the incredible history (Brigitte Bardot participating in the opening, Mick Jagger and Bianca being wed there).

However, I would actually cite one reason above all others: the flawless service. From the moment we arrived and were personally greeted by the general manager, who urged us to let him know if there was anything he could do to make our stay more comfortable, we were treated simply wonderfully by everyone at Byblos, from the concierges, to people at reception, to the valet, to the wait staff, to the spa staff. Byblos employees understand how to walk that fine line of treating you with the utmost respect, without coming across as cold or stuffy. The result is a feeling like you are staying at home, like you belong there, like they have been waiting for your arrival all year long and want nothing more than for you to have the best time of your life while staying there.

Finally, I would note that (as others have mentioned) that Byblos just has that special something, which is hard to put your finger on, but that just makes every moment there feel wonderful and exciting.

Of course, there are flaws, as in any hotel. It is expensive, the rooms tend to run small, and some rooms may be loud on certain nights based on proximity to the nightclub. So if any of these issues would make your trip unpleasant, you might want to consider somewhere else, perhaps a hotel slightly out of town that is quieter and with more room.

But for me, Byblos is simply the best - in Saint Tropez, and probably anywhere.

First the good things: great location and comfortable rooms. Service in the restaurants is average at best, and doesn't match the prices. If you like to hear disco music all night in your room and enjoy the laughter of happy people leaving the hotel disco at 4am, then the hotel is definitely for you. For all others it is a nightmare.
