“Lovely little spot!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2011

We spent ages trying to find a suitable hotel in St Tropez that was convenient, charming and not too expensive... its not an easy task as most of the hotels that we took a liking to sat around the 300 Euro a night range... But we eventually stumbled upon Le Mouillage and going by the advice of other travellers on Tripadvisor, we booked it.

It really is a lovely little spot - all the rooms overlook a courtyard where you can sit in the evenings and enjoy some of that wonderful Provencal rose! The rooms are all quite spacious and are comfortably decorated - it seems the bathrooms have also been newly refurbished which is a plus. There is also a pretty pool area which was being renovated whilst we were there.

In terms of location, although its not in the village itself, its a pleasant 10 minute walk. Its also about a minute's drive to the turnoff to head up to Ramatuelle and Gassin (two villages that we ended up spending more time in than St Tropez itself!).

Overall, a very comfortable spot and I would definitely recommend it.

A really nice and welcoming hotel at the Port, which was within walking distance to the centre of St Tropez. The owners of the hotel were present each morning and were very helpful and friendly. I think it is a renevted hotel where furthur bedrooms have been added. Our room was very modern, nice interior which overlooked onto the pool. It included a TV, comfotable beds - all white furnishings plus, a luxurious bathroom with a deep bath. The patio doors on the bedroom had french shutters which kept the room cool and also quiet. Our patio had two lounging sofas and a table & a sun lounger all surrounded by stunning gardens. The food was all lovely and gave you a taste of the french cusine. This wasn't the most expensive hotel i've stayed in, nor the most luxurios, but it's central location and french charm was perfect for a two weeks family holday.

We were recommended to stay here by my brother. Although it was the cheapest hotel of our entire European trip, it was also probably the nicest. Amaria the receptionist was wonderfully welcoming and our room was spacious, well decorated and equipped and even had it's own garden. There was a pool but we didn't use it. The breakfast was the best bit - having come from spending several nights in different hotels. The attention to detail for breakfast was exceptional - beautifully presented, freshly squeezed orange juice, nice buttter with a ceramic dish (no horrid little packets), tasty jams in lovely glass dishes (again, not the packet stuff) and a basket full of lovely croissants and breads. All brought to your table. There was a lovely garden too with lots of different seating areas and parking out the front. We could have happily spent an extra day or two there... In the evening we walked along the harbour into the old town for some dinner and everything was very accessible from the hotel. Great place.

Fantastic hotel at the Port, only a leisurely 10 minute stroll to the very centre of St Tropez...but with many nice shops along the way :-) The hotel, I believe, was once a farmhouse and further bedrooms have been added. The bedroom we had, a superior, was the Alizes bedroom, and was so quiet we had to set an alarm to get up in the mornings!! It overloked the swimming pool and was very typically french in decor. Lots of white painted furniture, four poster bed, TV and all the other amenities you would expect (except tea/coffee making facilities). Great bathroom with a deep luxurious bath - great way to relax after a hard day in the sun! The patio doors from the bedroom also had french shutters which obviously added to security, kept the room cool and also quiet and dark. The patio itself had two lounging sofas and a table plus a sun lounger all surrounded by beautiful gardens. I am unable to comment on breakfast at the hotel as we wandered into town each morning and sat, with our newspapers, soaking up the atmosphere, french style!! Perfect!! The owners of the hotel were present each morning and were very helpful and friendly. Each evening someone also came to close the shutters to the bedroom if you were late back. After 21:00hours the reception is closed and you are given a key to operate the electronic gates - again, worked perfectly. One of the big bonuses of this hotel is free car parking which can be a nightmare in St Tropez in Summer! Be aware that if you need to park your car outside hotel grounds you should budget £30 per day! We have holidayed for 25 years in the South of France along the coast from Monaco to St Tropez. Whilst I am not suggesting that this hotel is as luxurious as many of the others we have stayed in it most certainly has a very appealing charm with high standards. If you are looking for a hotel near to the centre of town, with an aura of peace and lashings of French charm then look no further........this is the hotel for you!! And finally, as you're just on the edge of town you do not have to negotiate the horrendous town centre traffic en route to the beach :-) :-) :-)

- friendly staff
- on the beach
- outstanding value
