Camping Sandaya Douce Quietude
Reviewed July 19, 2011

Have just returned from a 14 day holiday in the sunny Riveria, 35 degrees every day! All you want to do in this heat is sit by the pool! Not too far of a drive from the airport, Douce Quietude is a good site the swimming pools are strict in peak season, but the pools are very deep and busy so this is justified. You cant take your eyes off the kids if they wont (like mine) use water wings. However floats are provied and allowed (not inflatables, lilo, rings ect) The bar overlooks the pool, the lunchtime menu is varied and value for money unlike the icelollies 3+ euro!!
In the evening the bar/resturant is busy the menu is limited and expensive, but the entertainment both at pool-side stage and bar is fantastic for all the family!
Football every evening beside the park, my boys loved this.
The shop is average for a campsite, icepops better value for kids, fresh bread great, wine/beer average price, watch out for their festa!!
Leclerc, turn left out of campsite its sign posted, 10 mins.
Out and about there are several towns to visit, Agay is lovely, quietier and easier to drive to than St Raphael/Frejus beach front (one way system here, can easily get lost!) a couple of well priced places to eat, the views amazing! Up and down the coast their are lots of lovely little beeches away from the hustle bussle!
Frejus have a night market which is worth a visit.
St Tropez on a bost trip?????
Boat trip great, leaves from St Raphael 50 euros for the 4 of us, views amazing, but wouldnt bother, there is next to no beech, was very hot for kids, people are famiously rude, overpriced, but the boats are cool!
All in all.....Loved this holiday, its already agreed, we're going back next year!! have so much more to see!!

Room Tip: Air con is a must, pay the extra!!

We stayed here with Keycamp in June 2011 with our two toddlers. This was my first experience of 'euro-style' camping and I was very impressed. I found the Douce Quietude staff very helpful and friendly and any problems we had were dealt with really promptly by our Keycamp reps. Our accommodation was clean and we had a great pitch with plenty of space.

We booked to stay here for its location rather than the facilities on-site, although we did use the pool on a couple of occasions. As other reviewers have mentioned the 'rules' regarding swimwear are enforced but I think this is the same across much of France? We had brought sun-protection/swim t-shirts for our toddlers to wear and the pool staff didn't object to these. The pool-side was clean and I had no concerns about my children being barefoot around the pool.

The bar area is seperate from the pool, so there was no opportunities for drinks right by the pool but perhaps this is standard practice at parks in Europe?

The on-site shop was well stocked and had fresh bread every day. My children really enjoyed spending their evenings at the large playpark which was safe and shady and a nice place to try to chat with other toddlers despite the language barriers. There was a children's washroom with child-sized toilets and showers (which our newly toilet-trained boy enjoyed!!) We also found the table-height children's baths useful as our accommodation only had a shower.

We had a mixed bunch of neighbours who (like us!) sat outside within their own emplacements drinking and chatting every evening. This obviously makes some noise but it wasn't really a problem. On a couple of evenings we could hear music from the bar but not enough to disturb us or keep the children awake. It would obviously be noisier during peak times and holidays once the nightly discos start!

There are lots of lovely beaches nearby with nice sand and sheltered water. Saint Raphael is a great base for a holiday. There are plenty of places to visit within a short drive whilst the town itself is very pleasant. I would definately recommend a local roadmap. The roundabouts can be very disorientating and we often found ourselves on the wrong road even towards the end of the week! (I did most of the navigating...)

Overall, we had a relaxing holiday at Douce Quietude despite being slightly apprehensive after reading other reviews on this site. I would definately recommend it to couples and young families out of peak season.

Couple with 4 year old booked for first time in a campsite abroad, with keycamp via The Sun newspaper vouchers. Wasnt sure what to expect but it was brilliant. Campsite was a good one by all accounts - accessible and good for kids (although when we were there they had closed the kids pool for refurb and you could see the transformation taking place with builders working on it - will be great when done in June) During this time they were happy for all kids to be in the other pools and jacuzzis which worked well when it wasnt that busy (just before half term) but might be a problem later as it got busy just as we were leaving. Fair mix between nationalities, although beware of wearing your sandals around the pool or men wearing anything other than lycra microshorts or speedos, both will get you a rollicking - you have been warned.
Facilities that we used - pools which were great, childrens playground - nice, shaded, clean, varied equipment. Bar and restaurant - only used the bar, its expensive (about 10 euro for 2 pints) and the waitresses are fairly rude but nothing much else to try without driving. We were in 909 with keycamp and had a great pitch. Friendly and helpful keycamp reps when required. About 25 mins through tons of roundabouts from motorway. Easy to get about - both Cannes and St Tropez about 50 mins each. Beach 5-10 mins in car. Leclerc supermarket 5 mins away at the most, with mcdonalds attached. WOuld recommend and would go again, though our experience may not be the same if it was heaving.

2 french kids (about 13-14) broke into our caravan, and 2 other caravans. We knew who they were and also which caravan they lived in, but management of the campsite refused to take action (we asked 4 times), i think they were afraid.
At knight we were threatened by older kids whose parents were smoking joints at the childrens playground
this is not a safe place to be with young children, we left the next day, my advise, look around, lots of campsites to choose from, this was a mistake

Don't go here if you want sweet tranquility! In August the pool disco sometimes went on to 12 and the sports area was a nightmare with teens whooping and shouting til past 12.30. At 3 the soundproofed disco closes and there is another hour of jungle noises and loud shouting.
It should be much quieter for mobile home users but under canvas it was not a great experience.
The facilities are good and the loos clean. But it is expensive and not very friendly. If you love the night life it could be good. otherwise go somewhere else!

Site is generally good, but the entertainment claims to be multilingual but only occasionally introduces they evenings entertainment in many languages then actually only speaks french throughout the hole performance....
They make absolutely no attempt to establish the no smoking law which the French government introduced in 2007. If you are French then the waitresses are more than happy to help, although I did witness one poor French lady whom watched her partner and young child consume their meals, only to be informed afterwards that hers was no longer available as although one had been available at the point of ordering this had actually been given to another patron. On four different tables around us people where given ashtrays, one was even given a ox of matches, in order to actively encourage there smoking. At no time did the staff consider it inappropriate to promote them smoking or ask if anyone minded these customers smoking. It appeared that one of the owners was in the restaurant at the time, so was the manager.

Just spent a family holiday at this site. Our children decided to look at the wooden sun deck area above the pool, and we were horrified when they returned with many splinters in their feet. The lifeguard helped to remove some, and informed us he has to do this regularly.
The pool has a large list of rules and regulations, which are vigourously enforced by lifeguards blowing whistles throughout the day, e.g. no footwear of any description to be worn, no swimming shorts, no snorkels, no cotton T Shirts allowed in pool (even when protecting shoulders from sun), no food or drink. It is disappointing to see so many rules which do not matter, and none that do, e.g. why not 'footwear must be worn on decking'. On the whole, a distressing experience, particularly in view of our childrens' ages - 7 and 5.
We felt the site staff had an arrogant approach - there was no 'aim to please'.
