We stayed for 3 nights in this villas best suite and it is a fantastic place to stay. After a long day of sight seeing in Nice and through the countryside, it was great to come back to our suite and have a shower in the large 6 outlet shower that drenches your whole body in water or a nice soak together in the oversized tub. The little extras are too numerous to list, but we were felt to make the entire hotel our home while we were there. Without a doubt the best breakfast of any place we stayed at during our trip to the Riviera and Italy. When we return to France in the future, this will be our destination on the riviera.

I recently returned to the US after spending 6 amazing weeks in France. My husband and I chose the Villa Maxime after reading the many positive reviews here on Tripadvisor, and I can can vouch that every wonderful comment made about the Villa Maxime is absolutely true. The entire place is breathtakingly beautiful, warm and welcoming. The owners, John and Ann greeted us on our arrival, led us to the patio, brought us a drink, and sat talking with us until we were ready to unpack and settle in. That was only the beginning of a wonderful stay. We were there for 4 perfect nights. Breakfasts were magnificent--the best we had while in France. The early evening open bar was delightful, as well, and meeting the other guests stayng at the Villa was a great plus. We had so much fun every night talking with new friends and enjoying John's entertaining "lessons" on ways to open wine. The pool was perfect, too--ultra clean and warm as bath water while still refreshing. Full, plush pool towels are also provided. St. Paul de Vence is a short walk away, and filled with cool little shops with unique items. The Villa is close enough to the other Riviera cities so that you can easily venture off to sightsee during the day and then happily return to the quiet bliss of the Villa. Honestly, I cannot think of a single thing that could have made our stay any better. The pictures shown on their website are exactly what you will see when you arrive. There is no need for embellishment, everything is just as lovely as it appears in the photos. John and Ann have created a bit of heaven on earth in the South of France. Anyone lucky enough to be visiting the Cote d'azure would be wise to book at the Villa Maxime. It will be a vacation that will linger in your memeory and your heart for a long time to come. It certainly remains in ours.

Chose this hotel after reading reviews on trip advisor and we weren't disappointed in any way. We have always stayed at the larger hotels in the area but would recommend the friendly intimate atmosphere here with personal service second to none. We would have no hestitation staying here again whenever we holidaying on the cote d'azur

We stayed for a couple of nights at Villa Maxime as part of a 25th wedding anniversary holiday and would thoroughly recommend it. We loved the informality, the fact that we had our own little fridge for light lunches, the complementary bar at cocktail time (- we particularly liked meeting the other guests, although this was not obligatory) and the dvd collection. It was a real home from home and only a five minute walk from St Paul de Vence. We will definately return if our hosts will have us!

We reserved 3 nights at the Villa St. Maxime on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews and are so glad we did. The villa is exquisite, guest rooms clean and modern and of ample size, the views breathtaking, the pool a wonderful antidote to the stress of travel and touring (be sure to make time to enjoy it), cooked-to-order breakfast delicious, nightly cocktails just what the doctor ordered and it is an easy 10 minute walk into the old city of St. Paul. The owners, Anne and John reside on site and are lovely, warm hosts who moved from the US to Europe more than 20 years ago - so no worries about communications getting lost in translation in you are a native English speaker. We cannot wait to return to the Cote de Azure and will absolutely return to the Villa St. Maxime.

My husband and I stayed in a Sea View Suite for three nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The Villa is gorgeous, I love the open, airyness, the light of the marble...it's stunning. Have we stayed in better rooms? sure, but in all of our travels the "package" of Villa Maxime would be very hard to beat. The champagne breakfast is lovely...ham and cheese omelet to die for. A welcome cocktail when you check in, pre-dinner drinks, after dinner drinks. John and Anne are the most amazing hosts I can see why it took me three attempts to get in. Highly, Highly recommend.

We have come to depend on Trip Advisor reviews to help steer us in the right direction, especially with respect to hotels in Europe. The reviews for Villa St. Maxime almost scared us because of the uniformity of the positivity......but, as we learned, the reputation was clearly well-deserved.

This was a trip to celebrate our older daughter's college graduation and was the blow-out before she starts medical school in the fall. She wanted this to be the "trip of a life-time" and Villa St. Maxime became its centerpiece. We were greeted by Ann and John as soon as the taxi drove up. By the way, everything you read about Ann and John by other Trip Advisor reviewers is absolutely true. They love providing guests with whatever is needed to delight. Since our room was not yet ready (it was only 11 am and check-out was noon), Ann showed us to the terrace and offered cold drinks and snacks while we waited an hour or so. Our suite was on two levels, which permitted our daughters (age 19 and 21) to have their bed on a separate level. Afternoon cocktails on the terrace with newly made international friends was a true joy. Walked to dinner in St. Paul de Vence and returned to the villa to find a cart with after dinner drinks and chocolates waiting. And then there was breakfast - eggs in a variety of forms - along with champagne and warm, fresh croissants are the specialty of the house and they were spectacular.

There were other guests from the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Scotland while we were there. All were wonderfully friendly and several guests told us they return regularly because of the ambiance. A day spent relaxing at the crystal clear pool was a definite high point. Ann even drove my wife to town to purchase some specific food for our younger, food allergic daughter.

In summary, Villa St. Maxime is an incredible find. The pricing was fair and reasonable, the accommodations were delightful and we plan on returning for our 25th anniversary next year. If you are traveling in the south of France, you will not find anything like Villa St. Maxime - not to be missed.

Villa St. Maxime was designed and built as an intimate, luxury Hotel - Villa d'Hotes. The Villa is a short walk from the village of St Paul and also the famous Maeght Foundation, it is in fact the closest hotel in St Paul to the village, with the convenience of not being within the walls for easy access and parking. The Villa is very much a modern work of art itself: it is constructed of albinic Provencal stone sculpted in bold sweeping lines. The Villa enjoys an airy modern feel, while retaining a comfortable and intimate ambience, with great views of the village and the sea. The suites and rooms have luxury appointments, ensuite facilities. A Champagne breakfast, including freshly cooked eggs, and evening aperitifs are included in the room rate. ... more   less
