Worried about all the hype for La colombe d'Or, however we were pleasantly surprised. Seated outside on thelovely terrace the food was very good and service excellent. Served raw radishes with tapenade and bread and butter after we were seated, a nice Provencal touch. Glad we had made a reservation. The helped us in English with the French menu, but everything is a la carte here so a bit pricey if you have several courses. My chicken with morel mushrooms was uttely fantastic. Same for the chocolate gateau with ice cream.
We casually walked into the main dining room which was empty to see the paintings by Miro, Picasso, etc. Amazing!
I would highly recommend.

We spent 4 days in Provence just recently together with two other couples. We have been to the area many times but never had a chance to visit the famous La Colombe D'Or, but we made a reservation, as a treat for all of us. Wow, what an amazing place! The food was delicious, not a Michelin Star but delicious anyway and the service attentive, but the most important thing is the place itself. You must all know its history, if you do not, visit http://www.la-colombe-dor.com/history.html : it is a treasure and should not be missed. It is like being in heaven to eat delicious food surrounded by amazing works of art, by Picasso, Braque, Calder, Leger, Chagall, Miro, etc. Unmissable for romantic occasion, friends, family, fin any excuse to go!

This is my favourite place in the world. I have so many good memories of the amazing lunches on the terrace...many of my birthdays spent there. Have stayed at the hotel too....a place you will never forget...and will always want to return to. Food is excellent....service very friendly.

We have been to the Colombe d'Or twice, both times for lunch and both times having spent the morning at Fondation Maeght. With a lovely terrace and excellent service, this is a setting for a nice day and good albeit not extraordinary food. A bit expensive, but worth it. After lunch, tour the interior space and see painting after painting from the great Impressionists who lived at the hotel in a different era and apparently paid for their room and board with paintings. Nothing like this outside of a museum!

I have been to this restaurant a number of times, and while the food is good, it's not the reason to go.

Rather, I can think of no better restaurant in which to soak in the ambience while lingering over a good meal, either out on the sun dappled terrace or in the art filled dining room.

This time I greatly enjoyed the cassoulet of snails (at €19), while the Rouget (red Mullet) represented less good value at €39 for a simply grilled fish with the accompaniment of one boiled potato.

Two tips:
1. the house wine is very pleasant and represents excellent value at €23 for either the Rose, white or the red.
2. be careful of the size of the mixed hors d'oeuvres! Dish after dish of delicious food is delivered to the table. There must be about 15 different small portions. Lovely food, but perhaps better suited as a main dish than a starter.
